Has any one taken GM factory horns apart, cleaned them up, (removed rust) and successfully put them back together again, so they work like new? I've got a few horns off a RMS, and one sounds a little sick, and I would like to clean them all up a little before putting them on too.
Thanks, Mike

Horns are so cheap in the pic-n-pull junk yards, go grab one...about $5. Hint...Look for the ones that are not rusty.

Hahaha..... Look for one's that aren't rusty..... Hahaha..... I'll do that next time I'm south of the Mason Dixon. You southerners are funny, you do realize us northerners hate you.... In a nice, jealous kind of way!
Soak it in Diesel, then put 12v to it huh Nick.

No, not really... It reminded me of that video of the hillbilly in his dining room, and thought it was funny, but diesel fuel? Does that really work? I kinda thought you were kidding.

Yeah, if you mix the two in the proper ratio, it makes a really good explosive. It is what the Unibomber used to take down the building, and a muslim terrorist set one off in the underground parking garage at the World Trade Center which destroyed about 3-4 stories of the garage. It is also used in a lot of mining operations.

Ok, I tried Nick's trick with the diesel fuel, but only soaked them for about 4 hours. Hook them up last night, and they all work. Thanks Nick, sorry I doubted you.

Sorry I have got to call you on this Fred, the Unibomber sent package bombs to people and lived in the woods in a cabin. Timothy McVeigh was the Oklahoma City bomber that blew up the Federal building assisted by Terry Nichols. He used diesel and fertilizer (prilled ammonium nitrate). Diesel by it self is pretty passive and hard to ignite.

The diesel trick works on some anyway, 3 out of the 4 I had now work. Try to get as much of the fuel out of the horns though, it makes a mess if you pull them out of the diesel and power them up right away.
