| Hey Brokecello, I really like what you've done with your car. I was wondering if you happen to have an email for the guy that you got your black wood from? I clicked on the email link you posted awhile back and all he has on ebay these days is some kind of chrome strips. I would like to change my tan wood out with a dark grey or black wood like yours. As an alternative, do you know anyone else that sells black/grey wood? Thanks much. | |

This is the current seller now ( slionhkltd) HERE is an auction for the same stuff I bought. **KEEP THIS IN MIND** This stuff is not the same quality as the factory DI-Noc stuff. If you plan on using your wagon for an everyday daily driver...putting it through carwashes and sitting outside all day...don't get this. You get what you pay for. Should cost you about $110 shipped to do the whole car with extra material left over. My wagon sits under a quality outdoor cover when not being driven and I only handwash it. The woodgrain overall has held up well except for a panel that I didn't prep right. In the end, I was glad with what I got since I was on a tight budget at the time. Eventually I will WB4 the wagon (or remove the wood and do another theme in that area) You can buy the 3M DI-NOC Black Walnut wood...but it will cost several hundred dollars more. I think I had a quote of $800 from a local sign shop for materials. THIS seller on e-Bay offers it. Chris

| Thanks for the info, Chris. I guess I understand that 3M is probably a better product, but on that link it even says it is only good for 3-5 years, which is what the "no-name" brand also states. I was expecting the 3M stuff would have a longer life expectancy for outdoor use.
Anyway, I'll think it over before I buy one or the other. If I really clean up the garage I COULD probably fit the Roady in there -- will just take some major junk rearranging...

| Cool, be sure to post up some pics after you decide! Another option I was weighing too was painting the wood area satin black and trying to "wood grain" it with a paint brush.
BUT, I just saw Jarrod (here on the forum) airbrush some wood grain that looked amazing....

| Chris, I'm getting ready to order my vinyl wood and so I've been looking at a lot of youtube videos on how to apply auto wraps and so on, but there seems to be a lot of variation. Can you tell me what tools and the basic process you used to apply your wood? Thanks much! | |

I know there are several ways to apply it...but the seller of this product recommended a dry installation. Had a friend help hold the piece (made sure the wood grain was lining up with the other panels and level) and peeled back a foot or so...and put it on with my hand and a microfiber towel. I also did this in a cool and out of the sun area. It will shrink some over time, so make sure you leave enough tucked into the edges. I did use some heat on the gas filler door though. I'm by no means an expert. Reach out to Pat ( buickestate) and kadonte as they have done this too (and with the nicer wood). Chris

| Well, had a great time with the wagon in VA this past weekend! I was also very fortunate to earn an award by my peers...so that was really a great honor. I also feel like I accomplished what I wanted (most everyone has seen this version of the wagon now I think...) Here is a pic of my wagon celebrating by spending the nice in Mike Ps sweet garage Sat night. Man I want a garage!! . ____ So...phase two starts Each time I see JaySS and his wagon...I notice something new. This time was no exception! I loved his custom luggage rack but it was his carbon fiber roof that really caught me by surprise. I loved it! My woodgrain has kinda reached the end of it's show life, so I just ordered a sample of the 3M Carbon Fiber Vinyl. *Long life with excellent UV durability: Up to 9 Yr Outdoor/ Unlimited Indoor *Stretchable with heat conform to contours easily *Stands up against water, dirt, grease, salt, mild acids and oil I will do a panel and see how I like it. ______ Also, I decided it was time to lessen my AC line vulnerability issue (but I still didn't want to drop 1K+ for Tri-Ys) and ordered a set of BBK shorties. I'm also putting the cats back on....and little Diva was happy to hear that. LOL! | |

| Lol! She is always curious. The other cat (we have two Torties) could care less. Ha!
Well, I looked around and saw 3M has several types of designs for the 1080 series. Black, Anthracite (CF201) and White (CF10) Carbon Fiber as well as several "brushed" colors. I ordered samples of all. I'm wondering if a brushed black or metal design might look nice too. The white might be a nice touch on the hood of my Caprice Sedan...
It will also come down to price. From what I have seen so far, the black carbon fiber is the cheapest to get in larger amounts. (which is what JaySS had said)
A local vinyl shop quoted me about $1K to print a custom design on 3M material. I would really like to re do this for $300 or less if possible...

| New vinyl has been purchased...but no work has been completed yet since we decided to sell our house and buy a new one (final deal still in the works). BUT, I will (hopefully) once again have my own garage! Which means the Wagon can live like a king and I can piddle with it anytime I can :-)
Until then...the wagon will haul boxes to the storage unit....we start packing up our house today.

| Well, closing on the new house was pushed to Feb 10th. Nothing new on the wagon...I have the new vinyl roll, new headers, AC line and strobe lights (like I installed on my Caprice) ready.
Side note, I ended up messing up a Disc on my back...just had a MRI Mon and waiting to hear options from the Dr. Hopefully they can fix me up so I can move and get back to modding Jade.

| Thanks guys! I have an appt with a Neurosurgeon Wed and hopefully things progress from there! Right now it's looking like a Discectomy will do the trick.
Some of what caused this was all the loading and unloading of my equipment from the Caprice trunk...so...the B4U will be up for sale soon and I learned my lesson. If I can find another wagon (or trade someone for one) I will...otherwise I will buy a little SUV for my music stuff/daily.
Lessons learned.

| Hi Chris
Sorry to hear about the back. I'm sure you'll be on the mend soon. I know you'll be moving soon, be careful. I've moved several times, when I needed help I went to the local high school and asked if there were any boys who wanted to earn a few bucks (preferably weight lifters). I think I would hire about 4, that way there was no need for anyone straining. It worked out good for me.

| Please, before you have surgery, seek a second opinion, and see a physiotherapist that specializes in back therapy. I dealt with three herniated discs. Lost movement and feeling in one leg. Terrible pain. Saw the best surgeon in town (the team doc for the Ottawa Senators), and I thought for sure I would be going under the knife. He sent me for physio, and it made all the difference. Two and a half years later, no surgery, and I've had no recurrences. Just be aware that there are options. | |

Seconded. I'm scared as hell of surgery for the two messed up discs I have. |

| Well...where I was..if I didn't have surgery...my next step would have been the loss of bowel function. Keep in mind Im married to a Chiropractor. I believe in alternative methods...but when you can't use your right leg, feel your leg and foot...and right ass cheek...and the MRI shows a blown disc and bone spurs mashing the nerve nearly flat....you gotta get it fixed. (and my goods were starting to tingle at the end) lol
I can walk again, but cant lift more that 10lbs for a bit and full strength in my leg/foot should come back in about 4/6 months as the nerve heals. Glad the neurosurgeon did what he did.

| Yeah, when it comes to losing bowel or bladder function and losing feeling in your goods, you gotta do what you gotta do. Been there, got more than one opinion and had one hell of a urology surgeon in the end and have been back to normal for several years. I should start seeing a chiropractor, my lower back is slowly getting problematic and its been nearly 10 years since I broke my pelvis, its going to keep going down hill. | |

| Hahaha, nah my avatar is the name of a street on Wright Patterson Air Force Base, leading to the museum. Richard Bong was the USAAF top Ace in WWII in the Pacific, died in a crash testing aircraft right after the war. He won the Button, shot down 40 Japanese in a P-38. I do not partake in the recreational or medicinal use of that drug. Whiskey and beer sparingly and thats it for me. | |

The texture is there...not smooth...just a tiny bit of texture to the pattern (which makes it look a little more realistic I guess). lol

Thanks! Yeah, the SS (Bill Harper's old car) belongs to my buddy Heath and the Caprice Wagon (used to belong to a guy on here and a friend of Sprocket's) is my buddy Chad's. We are all in a local club (CarISSMA) and it's nice to have like minded friends who can wrench on each others cars! Chris
