Also made some progress with my Knight Rider lights too. Removed the metal mesh in the scoops and am slowly sanding to fit the lights on the inside. Boyhood dream for me and I know not everyone will like em...but I do and I know the kids at the shows will. Hopefully they know who Knight Rider and Kit are. ha!

Had some time Monday to do a little work on the audio. I bought sub and amp 8 years ago to go in my LDM WB4 and that never happened. Finally it goes into a wagon. Lol! My Bbody buddy Heath came down the mountain to help too. I'm glad he did!
The stock radio crapped out and I decided I wasn't paying to have it rebuilt again. Time to upgrade!
I bought this Blaupunkt New Jersey 220 headunit because I wanted something that looked kinda stock. If it lighted up green instead of white (light blue around the radial button) it would really look good.
Naturally, this radio isn't listed as a direct fit on Crutchfield's website. Once I took a dremel to the plastic nubs in the back of the radio cavity...we were in business.
Adapter harness connected with solder and shrinkwrap..
90 degree adapters for the RCA / Sub cables
It lives! AND fits
Ran power and RCA cables back for the sub. Also added Peel and Seal to keep dat bass in check.
Sub installed (Bazooka) Also added thick foam pieces to the bottom and side to keep rattles from happening.
Dash back together...radio still works! lol
Why I picked this radio...looks almost like it belongs!

Looks like a current generation STOCK GM radio. Awesome theft deterrent.
How is the sound compared to the original?

Night and day. It has a lot of controls to adjust audio, but I put the EQ on 'rock' and it made the stock speakers sound a ton better. Going to upgrade the rears though...fronts are great!

Chris, big fan of the hood light upgrade! My first thought was Battlestar Galictica..."By your command" Lol! The Blaupunkt was an awesome choice. Really does look like next gen GM audio.

LOL! Pat thought the same thing too. I still have to mount everything in an attractive and lasting way. The lights are designed to be in carwashes and such...so not too worried. Mainly need to tidy up the wiring under the hood for it.

Getting the last of my parts together for the header swap. (finally) I think I am well enough to dive into this! Goal is to have the wagon ready before Nats at the end of July. Between weekend gigs and my day job...I will tinker some at nights.
BBK Headers Putting the factory cats back on (yeah, I'm over the smell) Borgeson Steering Shaft (my used Jeep shaft is starting to have some play in a UJoint) New AC Lines HID Headlights Permanently mount and pretty up the Knight Rider lights. Aluminum Deep Trans Pan
I've tried for the past 3 years to make it to Nats...so I really have high hopes life will cooperate this time. I already registered

Yeah, these headers are a lot thicker and mounting flange is awesome!
Last night I got the other side off, put new AC lines on it and installed a new coolant temp sensor in the block.
I thought it was the heat from the header that ruined the AC line...but it was actually the usual spot on these Bbodies. Where it rubs the control arm on the front. I remember trying to protect it some 4 years ago as it was worn then. Oh well. New lines won't have this issue though.

Well....I kinda forgot I had to have the temp sensor out to get the new header in. Lol Nothing like doing something twice.
Took me almost 3 hours last night (mainly because I was alone and my arms kept cramping) but I got the other header in. Managed to get it in without banging it up too much. Once scratch at the top where I didn't have the engine harness bracket (same one that holds the trans dipstick tube) out of the way first.
Gigs all weekend, and traveling next week/weekend. So prob all the progress I will make for now.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I was in my sister's newer WImpala a couple of weeks ago and sure enough...her stock radio looked kinda like this one. Lol!
HID high/low kit is installed. I also permanently mounted the Knight Rider lights and ran loom under the hood for the wiring and topped it off with a switch inside. Need to touch up the edges of the scoop openings...but all in all I am happy with it. Need to get the exhaust connected and get a look at the scoops in daylight too. VIDEO
Also got my new plate installed!

Well, it lives! Temporarily hooked up the exhaust with some flex pipe to get it to the shop. Started it up and it works....so that's a good sign. VIDEO

Got the exhaust hooked up and now it's test time....gotta make sure I didn't forget anything when I had it apart. LOL! Also put the new deep (3 quart extra capacity) alum trans pan on as well.
AC would not take a charge after the new line...I have no leaks (put the vac on it) but something is blocking the flow...hoping the its the orifice tube. Replacing that and the dryer Sat and trying to charge it again.
Driving it daily for now to work out any bugs before ISSCA Nats.

Got around to trimming the top lip on the rollpan. Gate would not open flat with the beltline trim. Just zipped it even across with a Dremel Cuttoff Wheel.
Parts gathered for tomorrow...hoping the AC is back online after this It's been hot this week driving / testing this thing!

Thanks guys! Bought it in Jan 2011...and I'm pretty sure the previous owners would not recognize it now. Lol
AC is working!! That orifice tube....eek....should have changed it and the dryer when I did the compressor / engine swap. Tisk tisk.

Next we cut the hole for my Rammit Intake inlet.
__
Then we assembled the Borgeson steering shaft (I clear coated it since it was bare metal...I like that look) and took out the sloppy Jeep shaft. Also realized I need to take the painters tape off my header gaskets...that is how I kept them in place while I installed 'em.
__
Buick never had the rubber filler piece between the grille like the Caprices / SS has. So I installed a set to help fill the gap between the grille and headlight when the hood is closed.

Goodness...I haven't updated this in a while. Had fun at Nats (but kinda noticed my brakes were not up to snuff after a few hot laps on the road course) I bought all the parts to install Harper's H12 brake kit. Will do that this winter when I have some time. Also changing the brake hoses to braided.
__
Another thing I did was modify the ashtray for some switches. Will run the Knight Rider lights, power antenna bypass and LED lightbar with these. Wanted something hidden and out of the way. Saw something like this in Frank's wagon back in the day. (where I got the idea from). Cut the bottom of the ashtray insert out and fiddled with a piece of plexi to make it fit inside. Used some SEM texture paint and finished it with black topcoat.
Got the switches all wired (power antenna bypass, LED Lightbar and KRider lights). Debating on cutting out the center portion of the OCC scoop....I don't need to mount a plate on the front and it does block out some of the light.
Nice work as always Chris. Personally I would not cut the OCC bumper. I think its likely to sag if you cut it there. Besides, the split makes it all look a little more OEM.

Well, I compromised between the two :-). Left the thick center piece in where the plate holder bolt goes. Seems nice and stiff still but allows more light to come through.
I'm happy!!

Thanks! Just doing little stuff at this point.
Glad I didn't take the Buick to PA....alternator went out Wed on my Bday. LOL!! Put on the replacement yesterday. I'm digging the gold look on the pulley. I wonder if I can buy some paint that can make my others look similar. Need to see what Eastwood has...

Also bought a letter pack made for a 90s Buick bumper. I did this once on the old WB4 I used to have.

Chris,I take it from the engine pic you are running electric fans? Im asking because of the routing of your air cleaner?
