2008s Was there any side wall cracking? After my 70mph blowout in Dusty, I'm squeamish with any cracking in the sidewalls. I let a good tread tires go with rust bucket that had 75% tread but a 2007 date code and some sidewall cracking....

no cracking, tires are all good, this is just a case of having picked up a nail or something the tire got soft heated up and blew before I could pull over

| not much to report, I replaced both rear tires with new ones. Same as the old ones same make model and white wall.
I also changed out the passenger front inner fender and that helped to line up the pasenger fender with the hood a lot better than it was.
I've spent most of the week organizing my garage, it's been two years since it's been done and it's overly cluttered.... but I'm making headway in there and soon might even be able to work on cars in it again rather than just store two cars and stuff in there.... it also needs a new roof so that will come later this summer after the front porch gets redone....
today is a national holiday so I got got a lot or organization done in the garage, and after dinner once it cooled down outside I washed and waxed the wagon, was too dark for taking pictures so they'll have to wait til tomorrow

| I've painted so many of those Rally II's over the years!! Masking tape and a razor blade to do the two-tone. Cheating is possible now, Year One offers a masking kit for those.....for cheaters... Are you going with arrowhead or PMD center caps? I'd do arrowheads and use a set of Chevy truck rally trim rings (curved design, brushed finish, just like Pontiac used in the 70's), and it will look "right". Man it's going to look AWESOME!!!! -Mike

| No need to remove tires. Stick index cards between rim and tire. Paint.

| ray just smear some petroleum jelly on the tire first then wipe up after painting the rim quick easy simple mike arrow heads and I got a lead on the rounded trim rims, the wagon is rounded and the squared off trim rings just don't look right. here's what it looks like now | |

| I picked up a front bumper rebar to replace the bent on thats currently on the wagon, then I can mount the front bumper correctly then repaint it and the passenger fender.
I'm going to delete the antenna from the passenger fender. I picked up a shark fin am/fm roof mount one that I'll mount to the rear of the roof, it's low enough to fit under the roof rack.

| That is looking awesome, but it needs the curved trim rings, I agree. At least those are still fairly common with so many GM trucks using them for years. Are you going to put the chrome fender trim back on the front wheel-well openings. I think that will look good too, match the back. I do like the polished trim under the doors as well. All our Pontiacs had that trim down there, even though strangely the silver '77 above does not. Oh and I do like your custom hood ornament, but from the early 70's to the late 80's, all my big Poncho's (Bonny, Safari, Parisienne) had the famous Pontiac "Sunburst" ornament. I still have one on the wall. PM me if you want it. Glad to box it up for you. Think it might look a little more "correct" since you have a arrowhead in your custom grill right below the hood ornament. I love a good fake-out!! | |

Whitewall tires were a fine and necessary piece of decoration during the entire golden age of style. To deny their beauty is to deny your humanity.

it says flexible for vinyl, and it was 97f out in the sun when I sprayed it and it seems to have stuck to itand dried so time will tell....the cargo cover isn't like seat vinyl it' feels more porous.

I really like the Pontiac wagon theme. I think one element that would REALLY bring things together with the taillight/headlight stripes would be a slight tint to the tails like Pontiac did on many vehicles, and an amber element in the rear lamps. I don't know how hard it would be to get the tint thing past the law up there, and although the amber element would be quite difficult, it could be done. Probably would involve separating the tail/turn bulb into two bulbs and using the backup space for the turns. You could either leave it clear with amber bulbs or tint the clear plastic. The reverse lamps could be intergrated possibly around the tag but I haven't looked at a wagon up close in a long time so I don't know if the space is there. Just tossing some ideas around after a long trip.
