| Misty and I got hit with a large unexpected expense last night. I'm not going into details about it, but will say it has me pretty upset. SO I sat down, went through my toy list, and with a VERY heavy heart posted my Roady to Craigslist this morning. http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2963081385.htmlI think most of you know me, know how I take care of my stuff, and know this car. This was not done lightly, I adore this car and never EVER planned to sell it, but for the moment it makes the most sense....and I can always build one again in the future...I love a project. I'm asking $5500 on Craigslist. Will sell it here for $5000, or if you live in the northeast and don't mind me pulling my dolly behind it, I'll bring it to PA/NJ at the end of May for $5500. That'll cover the car and the gas. I hate hate HATE to sell it....I'll be driving that Dodge Ram as my daily driver....a fact that makes me moan and shake, but I'll still have my Cutlass and my GTO to play with, as well as the K5 Blazer and the Camaro Dad wants. I will not be bored.. There are tons of pics of my car on here, just look around. I think I described it pretty well in the Craigslist add. I sure would like to see one of your folks get it. -Mike The flash makes the seats look lighter than they are, they are dark maroon and very pretty And heres some shots of the new headliner. Glad to post any more pics or answer any questions about my baby. -Mike | |

| Sorry to hear you're selling this beauty. I wish I had the coinage to buy it, because I love that interior/exterior combo. I hope she goes to a great home. | |

| I think the guy that bought my '89 Custom Cruiser is interested in the Roady. He's the guy I got my Cutlass from.
That'd be great, he takes great care of his cars, and it would be close, in Fredericksburg.
I'd have first shot if he ever sold it in the future too. This one I'd like to get back one day!

| I hate to see you sell it dude, but I totally get that you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Best of luck harvesting your wagon equity, and better luck getting it back. Also, get it running by tomorrow and sell that stupid cutlass or the poop buick instead. | |

Hard to find clean 80's Cutlass T-top....I did think about selling it, but it's easier and cheaping to find another wagon in the future. I'm keeping the Cutlass. -Mike

| Sorry to hear this Mike, you shouldn't have any trouble selling such a nice wagon. And I do hope you'll stick around on the forum even after you sell your car. What are you going to haul the kids club and dog around in though? Might need to get a cap for that Dodge. While a nice truck, and luxurious too, that engine gets lousy gas mileage. Rated at something like 10 city, 15 highway... | |

| Mike, I think you're selling the wrong car.
Sell the Cutlass and that other car. They're always the ones sitting in your pics. You're always driving the wagon. THAT'S the car you spend your most time with.

| SOLD. That was fast.... I'm going to the bathroom to sob and moan now..... It's going to Fredericksburg...I'll get to visit it....only an hour away. Still...I never NEVER planned to sell this one. - Mike oh and PS, I really really want a clean Custom Cruiser. Once I sort out this mess and save up a bit I'll be looking for a 91-92 with low miles. Anyone on here please keep me in mind for next fall.... | |

You have a lot to learn Kid,life can be cruel. Sorry to read this Mike, truly one of the best members here as far as passion for your car. Can't help but echo Joel though, and just some quick math with Boat, bike and Dodge truck puts you pretty close if not more than the wagon brought you in $$$. Hope it all works itself out,and if this is the worst thing that you and Misty face in your life, you got it made. Sincerely, Lorne.

Lorne if you ever decide to sell the black Roady I hope you think of me first sir. I'm seriously upset right now. Dodge still needs a water pump and is not registered...or even really road-tested yet. Cutlass is in pieces for the engine swap. GTO is not for sale, hopefully ever. My Seca and the old lake boat are not worth very much and I don't want to play the wheel-and-deal game. I don't want to take out a loan or dive into my 401K.....the Roady was worth a good amount and I figured it would sell quickly....not THIS quickly...but quickly. I just ran to the car wash and gave it one more bath and vacuumed the inside once more. She glows. It's just life....has it's ups and downs. Today is a down.....but family is more important than a vehicle. Keep in touch all. -Mike

| whoa!! i stepped away from the keyboard for a few hours, to mebbe make a few quick backroom deals,. and i,m too late!!
Mike,.sell the dodge truck,. it,s your best asset,.it will buy you some time, to sort out finances,.i think you are being just a bit hasty,. cutlass's are dime a dozen, wagons are becoming quite rare,.everybody and their dog has a cutlass at a car show, not many wagons,.cutlass won't hold all the family neither will the truck, and you have some extra family now right?? drive the dodge north to get the blazer, sell a rust free texas truck in the rust belt, i think you will do okay,.. you'll be diminishing your cars value to you by spending money registering and inspecting the truck,. plus the added fuel costs to your monthly bills, and you have an extended family right now iirc, everyone gonna fit in the truck?? the cutlass?? Don't be hasty buddy,.i think you are having a knee jerk reaction rather than a well thought out plan.
Yours is only 1 of 2 woodgrain wagons i would consider owning,. very nice car,.
best of luck.

| Hey Mike!
I feel with you, cause I know this feeling. It is hard to sell the car you love......My kids and I started crying in '06 when I had to sell my old 1965 Opel and my '88 Caprice Classic SW. My wife made me selling both cars for a wax to low price, but at this time we needed the money too.
I press my thumbs for you, that you will find as quick as you can the right car.....
Take Care

| Only Mike knows his whole situation, so it's easy for us to say don't sell the wagon. I do agree that it may not have been the best long term choice for him, but as mentioned in the first post, it was not a decision made lightly. Sometimes life deals you a card and you need 5 grand in a hurry.
Wish you all the best and hope to see you back on the forum with a new wagon in the not too distant future. LMK if you want me to keep my eyes open in SoFlo for an OCC. I'm sure my wife would be happy to drive it out to you so she can visit her family in Round Rock.
I had been hoping for the day I could park one of mine next to yours at a local cruise in, but that day will come.....

| It'll all work out. Thanks all.
I'm sure I'll have another wagon soon. I either want a really clean OCC or a wood-delete DGGM, Black Cherry, or Black LT1 Roady wagon. I'd also love to find a 400 or 403-powered 77-79 Pontiac Grand Safari.
Right now we're going to get this debt taking care of. Then I have a Dodge to fix, a Cutlass to finish, and a K5 Blazer and '82 Z28 waiting on me in New Jersey. I will not be bored.
If the K5 Blazer runs and drives well I may sell the Dodge this fall and use those funds to find another wagon project. I'm not a "Dodge Boy"....this is just for now. I'm going to get the Ram running right, put new tires on it, and have the upper body re-painted, and then detail it to the hilt and fix all the little issues. Once that's done it should be a nice truck for this summer and still worth money this fall.
The only bright side to all this mess is that my wife can't say ANYTHING about me getting another wagon when the time comes. Ha!
That's my current plan gang.
-Mike
Oh and the Roady is still in my driveway until the 27th, which is the earliest he could pick it up. Hurts to see it there...and I'm all paranoid now that a tree will fall on it or it'll hail or get stolen or something....
I'm in the '79 Buick today...practicing for the commuter gas mileage that Ram is likely to get.
-Mike

i'll second him. i have had my caprice on craigslist for a week and for sale with info in big writing on the side windows.... i have had 0 emails 1 call and 1 person to come look at it ( a 20 yr old who's dad was talking her out of it as she was looking her at it). you used to get people snapping up anything with a current Pa inspection. i have never had a car on cl for more than a week!

| To be fair the guy that bought my car has purchased two other vehicles from me before, knows how I keep my cars, and had been bugging me about selling him my wagon since I bought it two years ago. I always told him this one was a keeper and I'd never sell it. Never say never. He jumped as soon as he read my e-mail. He's already ordered Ron Jon surfing stickers for it and says he's putting a surf board on the roof.....oh Lord... He is picking the car up sooner than planned, this coming Wednesday he's taking her from me here at Dell around noon. -Mike | |

Custom Cruiser was sold as a package with a 70 442 at the San Antonio Mecum auction. It's in Kansas now. To be fair he did offer it back to me first but I was not in a position to buy it. He still has my '93 S-10 and is thinking about a V8 swap. If he does that I may really want that one back! Ha! -Mike

| Sorry to hear this. You were certainly one of the last people I expected to sell your wagon, with the passion that you have for these cars. Unfortunately, life can deal you some pretty crappy cards, and the only thing you can do is accept it, and make the best of the situation. It seems like you're doing that, and this allows you the opportunity to start over with another wagon (OCC, WB4) and take it in a different direction. - buickestate wrote:

This should be a condition of sale. Part of the price includes joining the forum

| She's gone...sat on the park bench in my yard and watched her burble out of the driveway and head down the street yesterday at 5pm... On a positive note, I'm really glad my friend Rich bought her. I know he'll love the car the way I have, and knowing him, he'll continue to work on it and improve it. It's not too far off....hell I wish I lived in Fredericksburg, my wagon is moving to an awesome little town in the Texas hill country. Even still, last night somewhat sucked. I snapped at the kids over nothing, hid from my wife in the garage, and sacked out early at 9pm. I feel a little better today, but this is sure not a birthday I'll remember with fondness. Onward. -Mike | |
