| Getting a code 54 on the 92 OCC. I have noticed that sometimes I'll go to start the car and it cranks a bit, and I stop cranking, and then hit the key again and it fires right up?
I sure HOPE I don't need a fuel pump. Anyone have this issue before.
Also have code 44 and I know that's an O2 sensor. Weird it says that's a lean reading, and the car is running too rich??

| Code 54 is a fuel pump issue. The FSM has a whole page dedicated to troubleshooting the fuel system. The code 44 lean condition could be caused by low fuel pressure. You could have a broken hose between the pump, and the output line in the tank. The computer is trying to compensate for the lean O2 reading. Check the ground at the thermostat, and the pump ground.
Did you listen for the fuel pump to run when you turn on the key?

| I have a brand new AC Delco O2 for that if you need it. | |

| Thanks all! Amazingly the 02 sensor seems to have fixed both 44 and 54. No codes and no light since replace.
So far, so good!

It was original, had Delco markings on it, and the tip was pretty black. Happily it was not black wth oil...but with soot from fuel. -Mike

| I've owned my OCC since 2001 and I've never looked at the O2 sensor. | |

I have a feeling my car sat unused or used very little for years.

| True, there is a bit of disparity in the mileage between our cars. | |
