| I love working on collision jobs. I just repaired a 2006 Ford Freestar and the brake light got busted but the light bar was left intact. it will fit perfectly in the Roadmaster housing and it has a lot more lights. | |

| I've been meaning to grab a couple out of Explorers as well - they're almost an exact fit too, and plentiful in junkyards here in Syracuse. | |

| I will have to check the explorers here, just to see if they fit. What years? | |

| Cruise control on wagons does not rely on a functional CHMSL. Both TBI and LT1 cars. | |

| Well I finally got to replace the double spring clip on my tailgate so I could get my third brake light to work. Only problem now is when I apply the brake it pops the fuse every time. I guess it takes more juice than I expected. | |

| You may have a short. I have some nice contact strips for the 3rd brake light. The metal strips internally mounted in the light may have moved because of heat and cracking of the support. Check it with your VOM. | |

| Fred I bought another contact plate from Mike, and they are fine. I do believe the resistor is the way to go.
Update: I just took it all back apart and found out that one of my wires grounded out. So I fixed the problem and the light works great!
I'll post pix's of it tonight. | |

| You must have the resistor. It is a current controlling resistor. If the LEDs start to draw more current than they should, it drops more voltage, reducing the voltage to the LEDs, thus lowering the current available, saving the LEDs. | |
