I just wanted to make sure that it was a viable site before I sign up. I have never been to that motel, and could not tell even by the google map.

Well, I don't know what you need to have a BBQ exactly (we just walked over to the CrakkahBarrel the year I came)....but if you click on the little icon (looks like a person) when you are in the larger map, it's called "Street View". You can "drive" around the whole perimeter and see. Hopefully that will help a little.

If another hotel is better, that is ok! I will drive over to wherever you guys decide to hold the BBQ/Hangout.

Is there going to be an "official" hotel? If not I might just cash in some Hilton points and stay at a Hampton or the Quality we stayed at last year

The Hampton Inn on Speedway is $101/night w/ AAA and the Hilton Garden Inn is $97. Not a bad price. I'll probably go there.

We need to get together on where we are going to stay so that the motel doesn't throw a hissy fit about the barbeque. I think the $50 is a good price. A lot better than $97 or $101

IF THERE ISN'T A GROUP HOTEL, ie: a low rate ala last year at the Quality, I, Cadet57, on my own, will probably just stay at aforementioned hotel because I have enough points to make it worth my while. I didn't say that that is the end all be all of hotel choices and everyone HAS to stay there.

I just submitted a bid for hotels to 58 area hotels. I'll will let you know where we are at as soon as I get some replies

Call the 800# & use you company name, and ask for their rate. It should be pretty good.

Okay so I got a quote from this hotel for $59 a night. After tax it's about $10 more than Chris paid.

Looks like Hot Breakfast and a big pool area. Looks like lots of outside area for a clandestine BBQ Wink

It's across from the track. I have a call in to the hotel manager, but as I called the LaQuinta and did not get a call back......The Quality where we stayed last year bid me $95 a night. I will i see if I can work it lower as my bid request was for 10 rooms and the price is only off $3 from the book online rate....

I'm going to ask for 15 rooms. We won't be on the hook for unused and they do have a cancellation policy (Hot wire does not).

As soon as I have the details all worked out I"ll post the info to reserve. I'm asking for more rooms as one of the Impala clubs has been staying at this hotel for years and I offered to bring them in with us.

I just read through the registration info for the event, and I'm wondering about the "extensively modified" disclaimer allowing 1980 and up cars entrance. As some of you know, last year (when I wasn't pre registered) I was denied access at the gate with my 93 Fleetwood. I saw plenty of non modified newer cars there last year. Has anyone submitted pictures for approval and gotten a rejection?

I don't know about this year, but they never asked me for pics of my wagon. The year before my friend registered a bone stock white woody. They asked for pics and approved it.

I sent pics of my wagon a couple of years ago, but they have not requested pics since then.

They didn't ask last year and they haven't so far this year (registered last weekend)

If you read what the site says, they claim even if you pre pay they may deny you admission, and give you a refund. Obviously my Fleetwood is 21 years old, so it is not a new car, but it is stock. I guess I'll just register, and see what happens.

you should be fine as long as pre registered that is key

Now that you FW is old enough to drink, it should be able to go anywhere.

I just registered!! I am bringing the Roady wagon this year. I'll bring the big cooler I did last year, and I have a few beach chairs for the party at the hotel. Sprocket, if you want to pm me, I'd be glad to try and help pre event if you still need something done. I'll read through, and register at the hotel next. Can't wait!

you will get you registration in the mail about a month prior to the event....

I just booked my room tonight at the host hotel. Is this the hotel that has a pool and an area for the party on Saturday night?

Yes. I have taken my dog.

Make sure the Best Western is dog friendly. If they're not, La Quinta, right next door to the track, is.

They even let my dog in the pool, because he's awesome.

This is weird. I got a confirmation number when I registered, but I just got my credit card statement, and the charge is not on there. I called my card, and they have no record of the transaction. They said sometimes a vendor will batch numerous transactions together a few days later, but it has been a week for me. Did everyone else get a confirmation number when they signed up?

Well, I registered again, and this time I got an instant confirmation email from the show. Weird how before I got a confirmation number, but never got the email. Oh well, problem solved.

I got my card last weekend. I got charged about 2 days after I paid.

No card for me still....but still looking!

The plaque design is underway and I even believe there might be a few other fun little items being designed Smile

I'm now up in the air. My company is closing my office as of the 28th, if I don't find another job I'm going to have to bow out.

My card came yesterday, but Lynol is dropping out of the trip and getting vacation time approved is proving a challenge at my work. Hope I can make it!
