Not crazy about it and had looked at buying a 2014 because of this new (Probe) and who wants a 4 cly Mustang it aint right I tell ya.... it aint right....

2015 Mustang GT-R

Not the first 4 cylinder Mustang but definitely the fastest.My kid brothers first new car was a 74 Mustang II with a V-6 and 4 speed.man was that a piece of junk.10 years later and I almost bought a SVO mustang with the Turbo 4 but bought a Turbo T bird instead,best new car by far that I have ever owned.This newest Mustang Turbo 4 will put a stock 5 year old GT on the trailer with superior performance and mileage.Looking forward to the performance cars of the future because they will be both frugal and fast with V-8s quickly disappearing from the option list.So far I like what the designers have done with the future Mustang!

Ok the new technology is nice and the 4 turbo is going to make about 310 hp but here is where I think Ford has it wrong.

The Mustang owner is like most car junkies they want performance a satisfying rumble and a car to mod and make their "own" why do you think all those Harley riders replace their perfectly good mufflers and add a bunch of chrome and custom paint.

In the past you could buy the V6 that made as much power as the V8 did 5 years ago but the GT is what most  owners aspired to own. Yea the 8 will still be available for now but I expect Ford to up the base price near mid 30's that rules out a lot of buyers.

The 4 is nice but what you have power wise will be all you get no simple mods to boost the fun factor as your funds are available or as the modding bug bites you. With the V6 you could easily add a procharger to take you from 310 to 425 hp with good fuel mileage and reliability while feeding your modding bug.

I wonder if Ford thought the the Mustang II had been forgotten and what a miss it was with traditional owners or if they just plan to abandon them slowly.

It seems to me they wanted to create a "Mustang" for the "focus" owner to graduate to.
There are many 4 cly sporty cars out there to choose from... I own a Solstice and its a great car but i'm not interested in a 4 cly Mustang... no the Camaro would get my money V6 RS with a six speed  and a procharger down the road. Jeff

I disagree entirely. The turbo 4 will be MUCH easier to tinker with than the 3.7 V6.
Look at the Ecoboost F150 for example....


Same power as the V8. More torque, and it comes earlier in the rev range. Then, on top of that, they slapped an exhaust and a tune onto the truck and came out with huge gains for less than a grand:

That's WAY easier than "easily adding a procharger" to a V6.

It could have been worse...actually looks better than some of the past "drawings" I've seen.  

  A lot of new cars are just getting weird looking (I thought the same thing about the new Camaro, CTS and Stingray when I first saw them in print).  You just get used to it and suddenly...they look fine.  lol

"Simple Tunes"are going the way of the dinosaur,in the future just checking your oil will need a trip to your dealer.Computer tweaks will disappear too with any attempts carrying mandatory jail time.In the future your new cars performance and fuel mileage will be superior to anything currently available

I can't say I agree. The industry is out there, and it's not going anywhere any time soon.

Now for our poor neighbors in California, I can't say the same thing, but automotive performance is definitely not dying off. EVERYTHING is getting faster, better, safer, stronger with each update.

I really like the new front end theme Ford is using. Personally I think it translates well to the Mustang. The rear is nice but I think could have been more.

Of course all we're seeing is scans of a magazine right now too. I doubt they do the car justice and there are a lot of cars, such as the new CTS that look WAY better in person than any picture can show. So, I try to reserve final judgement until I see one in on the dealer lot, or in the case of the Mustang, when my friend gets the one he's ordering the first day they are available to be ordered.

Loving the idea of 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engine options too. Something for everyone!

I will reserve future judgement till we see it in the flesh. This is the first industry report I've read that states the V6 will remain that's good news. Thanks for the better photos Stingroo.....

Of course. It's what I (hopefully someday full time) do.

The new Mustang will come with independent rear suspension FINALLY.That twin turbo four cylinder with the track package should be a sweet handling car with perfect weight distribution and no more plowing.

WOW I can't wait to call my mother-in-law so I can tell her Ford now makes a coupe version of her POS Fusion sedan. She needs one!

I always had a soft spot for the looks of the late 60's 'Stang. They lost me with the Mustang II, but somewhere in the last 6 or 8 years they seemed to have recovered something of that badass "I mean business" look.

I wonder what that grill would look like in front of a green fastback body?
