Hooked up my fuel pressure gauge this morning while I did the EGR replacement and noticed that at idle it reads 35psi. Blip the throttle and it goes to 41/42psi for a second then drops back down to 35psi. Idle up slowly and the gauge doesn't move from 35psi, regardless of RPM. Unplug the vacuum line and it goes to 42psi and holds. Turn off the car and pressure drops to 32psi and slowly raises to 40/41psi (after 10 min, went from 31-41psi).

key on not running blips from 40-42psi then drops back down to 40psi

Is this the correct way to test the components? Does it seem that all is working as it should? Can I just unplug the vacuum line and call it a day?

Did not drive with gauge on, might do that and check....

Here are a couple of videos I took this morning...... Hard to do on my phone.

The #'s on the dial are in 20psi increments, WOT is at 41psi

Cruising:

WOT from standstill: (pressure decreases as vacuum builds)

just thought 36psi was low. Thought idle was supposed to be around 40psi and WOT at 45psi.....

cool, was just checking my techniques.

figured this was a good way to check the condition of the pump, filter, regulator and solenoid.

Looks like your regulator is working better than mine is. My fuel pressure is high and the PCM is pulling fuel to compensate.
