| I paid what they were asking! The car was almost sold to a 16 year old as his first car. The wagon had been setting in the garage and this kid and his dad went to pick it up to drive it home and it wouldn't start. They jumped it and still nothing. Put it on the battery charger overnight and still didn't start. The Funeral Home owners had it towed to a shop and a new battery and starter later it was running again. It was still at the shop when I tracked it down. The kids dad got cold feet and had to think about it because he didn't want a car that was problematic. So it was just luck that it was availble when we traced it down. It was advertised on a facebook site by a third party with very little information. Just black mid 90s Chevy Wagon with 16,000 miles in the garage at a  closed funeral home in Grosse Pointe. A friend of mine saw it and wanted more information but then it was removed. All we knew is it was at a funeral home that went out of business. I called the funeral homes in Grosse Pointe Park as well as Grosse Pointe farms and they just laughed when I said station wagon. I figured it had to be in the Detroit area some place. My friend Eric took it upon himself to call around to a bunch of different funeral homes until he found the funeral directors that purchased the firm and the rolling stock. They had already sold the hearse to a local cemetery. He called me up and said " well I hope you really want that wagon- because I just comitted you to it! Eric told me the story about it being at the repair shop but should be returning tomarrow the owners said. Needless to say, when we got the call it was back we jumped in my Roadmaster woodie and drove the 5 1/2 hours up there. We returned back home at 2:30 AM. Car drove back great! | |

| So.... Good deal? or Pay out the nose? We're all friends here. Ball park it if you don't want to give details. Cool story, way to get after it. I love the black wagons.

| The funeral directors hi-fived each other when we drove away! I think they were under the impression they would be stuck with their station wagon for life. They knew it had value because of the super low miles but other than that I'm sure they thought it was pure luck they found someone who could appreciate a car like that one! | |

| Huh? These drive better than minivans that many directors now use as courier vehicles. | |

| I think to most people a old station wagon is just something from the past. People who don't know these cars like we do can't appreciate them. Some can because they have happy memories but others just don't care. When I called the funeral home in Grosse Point first looking for this car (it was the wrong place) the lady on the other end of the phone laughed and said she can be 100% certain there is no station wagon here and she knows what a station wagon is because her parents use to own one! | |
