| For sale is a rear axle assembly from a 1988 Caprice station wagon with 3.08 gears, an open carrier, and...28 original miles. Yes, you read that correctly. Not 28,000 or 2,800--28 original miles. The story behind this axle is that it came from a showroom/display model that GM decided to dismantle rather than sell. I picked it up from a local junkyard that had it in their inventory for years. I opened the rear cover to verify the gearing and condition; the original gear oil is still inside, and is yellow in color, not black or brown. It has separated over the years, and should probably be flushed out and refilled, but still...this axle is basically brand new. In the picture below, it is the middle axle assembly of the three. This axle should be a direct fit for any B-body station wagon from 1977-1996. It would be a great way to upgrade a car with a 2.56 or 2.73 ratio. I bought it thinking that it would be a good ratio for my project car, but later changed my mind. I'm located in SW Virginia, but would be willing to drive up to 100 miles to "meet in the middle" and make a sale. Asking $400. Please email or PM for more info. Thanks! Sam | |

| Info for potential buyers: axles will be 28 spline, not 30 like on later units. Lugs will be imperial thread, not metric M12x1.5 like on 91-96. No ABS sensor provision on housing. | |
