Yesterday I completed a 2500 mile round trip from Florida to Wilkes Barre, Pa to pick up a Seawind 24 Catamaran. The Seawind was disassembled and looked like a pile of boat parts. She was donated to a charity and I was the only bidder. So for 150 bucks I had another S24!
Betty performed very well. After rebuilding her brakes, all new from the booster out lines, calipers, shoes, pads, cylinders etc., a new fuel sender/pump, air shocks, tank straps and assorted misc. parts she decided it was time to go. We beat the cold weather by just days.
Betty is a tow package vehicle and performed better with a load than she does without. At around 100 psi with who knows tongue weight on good roads I did not know she was even there. I used an extended tongue hitch with a 6 inch drop and turned it upside down. The ball was above the bumper cover getting the trailer level.
SoI have to say anyone thinking of buying a 20 plus year old B-Body wagon and using her for a work horse I say go for it. I had a pick up before and got pushed all over the road by big rigs retrieving a similar boat. It rode like a truck, what it was. Betty rode like a Buick Roadmaster and that is exactly what she is!
