It is not so much a cold air intake, because the original intake has the same routing. It may or may not increase the airflow, and if it does it may not increase the HP, but in fact the HP may decrease. It will make the engine compartment less cluttered, and nice to look at. The filter is a standard cone filter, and it does not say if it is a dry or oiled one, so I will assume it is a dry one. Overall, it will make the engine bay look nice, but probably will not make any more HP. The air will not be any colder than what the stock intake system provides. If you do not put a shield around the filter, it may even suck hot air from the engine compartment instead of the cold air you desire.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Smile So basically, it's the K&N caprice intake but without the little baffle box that goes around it?

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is probably a duck.

If anyone needs some cold air, we can supply all you need. We're running a special this week.

Just got to Lowe's or Home Depot and do that intake mod, it's cheap and looks/works fine. Swiss-cheese the lower airbox under the filter too, and there you go. I ran this setup for two years to get rid of the first-base baffle. You can use the hockey-puck in the elbow to get rid of Home Plate too, or get an 93-96 F-body (Camaro/Firebird) elbow for a cleaner look.

Then save your pennies for the K&N FIPK intake, and add a DRY filter, not oiled...oil is crap. AEM makes a good dry cone filter that works fine on the K&N.

My 2-cents!
