| OK, the chime module in my Caprice wagon is simply not going to budge by simply pulling it straight back, but I can neither see nor feel a clip or catch that's holding it in place. What's the secret? | |

| According to the FSM, there should be a large plastic clip in the center behind the module. To remove the inconvenient center, there are two 7mm head screws, one behind the module, and the other in the hole at the front of the module, between the flasher relays. You should be able to turn the inconvenient center to expose it once it is loose. | |

| Once you remove that, you can install your pedals for your T56 swap! You're almost there! | |

Umm... you're writing to the guy who can't remove the chime box.

| Couldn't seem to get hold of the upper 7mm head screw, and so blundered onto an easier solution: push a narrow (1" wide) plastic scraper blade across the center top edge of the chime box straight towards the firewall, and it will lift edge of the retaining clip enough to pull the chime box to the rear and out.

| if you have an aftermarket tune with vats disabled, may as well remove the TDM while you're in there. | |

One demon at a time. That one is presently causing no trouble. I'm inclined to leave it alone rather than attract its attention.
