Moog Problem Solver Ball Joint Empty
PostSubject: Moog Problem Solver Ball Joint   Moog Problem Solver Ball Joint Icon_minitimeSat Aug 18, 2018 4:45 pm

I just replaced the left lower ball joint on my 96. I used a Moog Problem Solver. It came with a separate grease boot, not attached. So I pressed the ball joint in and am trying to figure out how the grease boot is supposed to be installed. I can't seem to press it on evenly and get it to stay seated. Do I just place it on top and let the weight of the knuckle hold it down? I tried adding a little grease but it is starting to come out at the lip that is not seated. Does anyone know how this is supposed to be installed?

The weight will help hold it in place, but it should seat around the flange. Check to see that you pressed the balljoint all the way in. Using a piece of pipe that just fits over the boot may help get it seated.

I ended up having to use one of the ball joint press receivers and hit it with my 3lb hammer to seat it. I first tried channel locks by seating the inboard side first then using the channel locks on the outer side and grabbing under the control arm. I did not have any success with that method.
