Forgot to post this, and it may just be a glitch. About two weekends ago I'd driven my '96 Roady all day (two car shows, about 200 miles total) and got in to drive home, and noticed the "Low Oil" light was on. Still had good oil pressure, but stopped at a gas station and checked, and oil was full on the stick. I was well-under the 3000-mile change, and when I re-started the car, the light went out, but the oil had been in the car for a long time (around 9-months...again this is just a weekend toy now), so I went home and changed the oil and filter.

Light has not come back on since. Just curious if others have seen this light on?

Did you park on a slope before the light came on?

My 92 used to do this randomly. Never low. Simply turn off, turn key back on, no light. I seem to remember lots of other reports of flaky senders back in the day.

Low Oil light is just that, Low Oil level in the pan. Nothing to do with how dirty it is , how old it is etc.

The sensor is a know trouble maker. The plug gets full of dirt and moisture due to it's location. It can also develop a leak that fills the plug with oil.

The one in my wagon was acting silly so I put in a new sensor and cleaned up the plug. I was rewarded with a light that is always on and a silent DTC in the PCM. I pulled the bulb out.

Looking through TunerPro I noticed that it can be disabled and will be doing that soon.

The connector is the major culprit. Clean it and check for continuity between the wire and pin. The sensor is usually fine. You might even consider soldering the wire to the pin for a secure connection.
