Subject: Rear sway bars- are they too low? Tue Nov 21, 2023 8:42 am
I was looking at some RMW with rear sway bars at Wagonfest
They look low.
Do they end up striking things From time to time?
I have 17 inch Impala Rims and stock springs so I am not lowered.

The anti roll bars do not hit on Impalas, so they should not hit on wagons. The Impala springs are shorter than wagon springs as well.

rear sway bars on this style GM rear suspension usually look like they hang low, but there are other things towards the front of the car just as low or lower. I think if you were to hit something with the rear bar you would have already hit things up front.

Whatever clearance you have at the rollbar Is the same no matter what springs you have. The clearance is determined by the tire diameter.

Not on my '96 Caprice wagon. I used the rear bar from Hotchkis and Southside Machine Lower control arms (just for the no-drill or welding/fab convenience). You'll beat the bejeezus out of the differential housing before the swaybar hits anything.
