Well said, Jay. Smile You just saved me a lot of typing. Wink

And I'm pretty sure that I would have come and got that car as a whole for a price that coulda worked for us. It would have been a "builder" for a local friend who has a killer drivetrain laying around waiting for the right wagon body. And that one you just cut apart was ten times nicer than ANYTHING we have been able to find up here.

Holy crap does this thread ever have some serious high school drama.

I see some of my wagon friends getting together to do wagon stuff, AND they had SAWZALLS - and MOAR friends showed up - AND they took the time to take pics of their good time. I'm actually a little geluz - and when I say a little bit, I mean a LOT.

Let's not be stupid about this. Are solid old wagons really all THAT rare? Apparently not. Apparently they can still be had for a couple hundy on ebay by placing ONE bid while nobody is looking. If you were a bidder who had your heart set on saving the car, I can see why you MIGHT have a right to whine a little bit. Otherwise - for real, I think you can cringe, you can wince, and you can wish you'd have had the car to yourself to do what YOU wanted to do with it, but guess what sucka - YOU DIDN'T!

And trying to impose SHAME on grown men for not doing what you'd have liked them to? That's pretty rich. I mean really. REALLY!

They didn't set it on fire. They didn't throw hammers at it. They didn't give it to a local high school to use for a tackling dummy. They didn't give it to a ocean going freighter company to use for an anchor. They didn't use it for target shooting practice. They didn't park a monster truck on top of it. They bought a POS and saw it was an organ donor - so they treated it as such.

Thank you both for taking pics of your great weekend guys. Post pics EVERY time.

Jay, I do get what you are saying....and I like the "throwing the grenade" aspect. I guess that was what did it. Thanks for that.

If this wagon could have been driven, or motor even started...or didn't have fluids leaking out of multiple rotted lines....I think Mike would have taken another route. It was on e-bay (and even posted up on ISSF and I think here...will have to search) Not one bite. The condition, history and underside pics really told the story. (which is what prob scared the bidders away) I can say it did have it's fair share of bondo in spots. That did not show in the pics.

I can say that out of that whole wagon, only one wire was cut (bat cable) and the HVAC plastic was thrown out. Other than the rotted ares of the floorpan and the roof, every little piece of that wagon was saved. I mean every piece. Even the nuts/bolts/screws were all organized and stored. Mike is even gonna have the frame sandblasted and restored. So nothing will be wasted. So, its not like we came in and cut everything up...ripped everything out...it was handled with care and respect.

Those who really know us, know we do care a lot for the wagons. Mine could have easily ended up as parts...I could have quit on it, bought a nice "true" Southern wagon and just gutted the '96 (or let it sit) I didn't. I've spent a lot of long days/nights working on it to attempt to make something special.

Thank you Bewber!! That was more the response I thought I would get, but I get it now. I will still take pics like I always do, just might censor some in the future. Hopefully the pics I took will help someone down the road. I know I learned a whole lot more about our wagons from this.

Just got back to SC and...man...what a weekend! Thank you Holiday traffic! The OCC did great though. Only a few more days until we take it up to WI for vacation Smile More pics from that I'm sure.

Chris

Yeah, meh is about all the time I'm going to waste on your comments too nick

Jay, thank you for the rational reply. Obviously we'll have to agree to disagree on some points and yet continue to be that dysfunctional family. Smile

With that, this thread has obviously run its course. Enjoy the pics folks, Chris has more if you care to see them.
