I was sitting at a stop light.. car is idleing fine.. temp gauge is fine.. Low Coolant light comes on.. i hit the peddle and it goes away.. didnt think much of it.. so as im heading home i have to go up a big hill and it put a load on the engine no doubt about it.. then the temp. gauge goes up.. i get home i pop the hood look at the coolnt bottle and that is at the line its supose to be where its at.. when it cools down i come back out pop the rad. cap.. that is full in there.. obvisouly the question here is why is this light comming on?.. now i do have a minor leak in the termostat gasket.. but i dont see how this would cause a problem with the low coolant light.. any idea's?.. i was thinkin' maybe the sensor in the rad. is shot?..

If the reservoir is full, tap it with a rubber hammer a few times. Sometimes the float on the sensor gets sticky. Smile

it is wise to flush out the coolant tank when you do a cooling system flush. A lot of grime accumulates in that tank.

I had the same problem, I just disconnected the wire going to the sensor intead of replacing it. There should be 2 wires going to the sensor, and the sensor is just a switch.

If the temp goes down when RPM goes up, it's the pump
