| Hello, friends! I am from Russia. The my English is very bad, use and translator. I love the American cars. 3 years I ride on Chevrolet Caprice Classic 92. Very surprised, that in America use popularity the European machines, in fact for you very good machines. In Russia, it is very expensive to contain full-size cars. But for us it is a not transport, but hobby. I will be glad to speak with you. | |

Do you have the story of how it came over? Those are usually pretty good.
Thanks for posting the pics!

I bet parts are difficult to find.
Question, are those headlights glass, or plastic? Glass means they were exported to Europe by the factory and plastic means someone brought it over and sold it.

How expensive is petrol where you live?
It is good to meet a real Russian. Before today, all the Russian pictures I've seen on the internet were porn.

| Krzdimond, My Caprice of Arabic acquisition, speedometer in km/h. An optics is a plastic (already in bad repair), glass I never saw. Spare parts in any amount from different producers (moog, Acdelco, Monroe, Gm,motor Pro). Similarly, spare parts can be purchased on junk yard. p. s. Ebay also do delivery to Russia. I necessarily will write prices for an example. In 1990-1998, the American cars drove in Russia. And now entered large duties on an import from America. For example bringing Caprice to Russia is needed 15 000$ + cost of car. | |

| But the cost of living here is WAY higher here too..... Salary's are relative between countries. My Army retirement is around $22k a year (with combat disability), I drive a truck part time for around $40K (HAZMAT) and run a business part time that gross is about $20K. Keep in mind that my liabilities match my assets so I'm broke most of the time My daughter makes 75% of what I do (minus retirement) ....... by selling cell phones for T-Mobile | |

| Krzdimond, thanks for the story, very informative. True, cost of living we have different. Taxes in Russia is lower than in the US, goods are cheaper. Imported goods and cars are much more expensive. Forcing us to buy Russian cars, and they are very bad. | |

| Welcome Blade! Funny that you mention American porn. I was the main actor in one once, but it never went into production. Sadly, it was considered too short in length. Let me know if you're interested in doing a license plate exchange. I collect them in my bathroom and would love to have a couple from Russia. Also, that was NOT a translation error. I really do collect them in my bathroom. Also too - don't be afraid to let us know if you need anything. I guess that if you do ebay, then you also have a paypal account - and I'm sure we can get you anything that you need. Let me know on the plates and we'll make it happen. Thanks and welcome again. John in Michigan. | |

| Median household income in the US was $52,000 in 2008. The recession began in late 2008, so it is probably lower in 2010. I live in the state of New Mexico, where median income was only $43,000. New Mexico is a poor state. Almost all roads in the US are paved. People who come here are surprised so see that some roads are dirt. There are a lot of Indians here, who are very poor. | |

| Trabant was from East Germany. The country was close to a successful capitalist society, so the rulers had to put on a show to make it look like they were just as successful.
A friend of mine visited East Berlin just a couple months after the wall came down. Since most of the cars were two-strokes, and none of the cars had any emissions controls, everything in the city was covered in gray slime. Mailboxes, door handles, walls, everything. Shopkeepers had to wash their windows every day. I think of that every time someone complains about emissions controls on his car.

John, thank you very much for suggestion, if it is not difficult for you, I will appeal necessarily. There are some details which I can not find. For example hubcap for Chevrolet Caprice 9c1. I would like to exchange with you by plate. In Russia, after the sale of car or handing over of him in a scrap, a citizen gives the plate of state motor-car inspection (Police). It is impossible to sell or purchase them. Therefore free plate for citizens are not present. But I will endeavour to find a plate for you. p.s. By the way, do I collect the models of cars in a scale 1:43, anybody is carried away? Always wanted to have a few American models.

| Nick Danger, thank you for the links.
I always like well-made roads of the US, my Caprice miss them so much... In Russia we have good roads in Moscow and nearest cities, and also in other big cities. But if it is necessary to go farther, you should be ready that the roads will be strongly broken. You will meet many dirt roads also. Suspension on the Caprice was already fully repaired by me last year.

| Welcome to our little corner of the word. A very interesting read. Good to see our cars have fans all over the world.
I spent 2 months in Macau, China early this year. Did not see any B-Bodies, but Buick is considered the Luxury brand in mainland China. More so than other Euro cars.
Do you see any station wagons in Russia?

| BigBlackBeaSSt, Station wagons for us very rare. Once or twice, on the road I saw Buick Estate Wagon and Chevrolet Caprice Wagon. Sometimes wagons meet on sale. In our club am a few Station wagons. I heard also, that in China US love cars. In Russia now very much many Chinese cars, unfortunately quality them very bad.
buickestate, in US enough amusing to see the Russian cars on sale. Before LADA 2108 2dr, was good, modern cars. The engine of this car was finished off Porshe. In distant 1982 the first pre-serial prototype was collected a year 2108, and drove him on the factory of Porshe. There he was exposed to the hard tests. Back a machine left to Russia with the heap of drafts of touching revisions of basket, engine. But this car is outdated now.

| Today we had a very low temperature for December -25 c. Many cars were unable to start. Found on rutube.ru video showing the difficult lives of people in remote northern regions of Russia in the cold of winter, with no roads. We can build cars just for the army. The main role of this video, an army truck GAZ-66, 4x4, V8 http://rutube.ru/tracks/1341639.html?v=2905a937b837ca20375bece613c03b71

| Fortunately I live in the capital of Russia, Moscow. Life is very comfort here. For example people with a profit a bit above average ride on Nissan Teana, Ford Mondeo, BMW 5, X5, Mazda6, Audi A4,A6. There are many rich people in Moscow, elite habitation, many dear restaurants, is constantly built. In any large town the possibility is good to arrange the way of life. And the province, people live in poverty and stand a need. Such people are far more. | |
