It has a rained a small monsoon here for the last week or so. We decided to drive Crusty to drop the kids off at school one morning last week, it was poring rain and within no time I couldn't see out the windows. I tryed everything but was only able to get the very center of the windsheild to clear. Is there some reason gm designed the defrost this way? Is there a way I can get the WHOLE windsheild cleared? Is there a devider that goes in the vent that could be missing? Am I stuck using antifog on the windows?

When in defrost mode, the air comes out of that single 'vent' on the dash as well as the two small ones which direct some air towards the side windows. There should be a grille over it which will help direct the air to the windshield. It does tend to blow in the center but eventually, if the fan is on high, it should clear the whole thing for you.

Admittedly, I've not tried it with a full passenger load though.

I have found that if you turn the temp up for a min or 2, it will clear the windshield.

Thanks for the tips guys. I went out and pulled the cover to see if maybe there was something lodged in vent, see if any pieces were missing, ect. Everything looked good, nothing missing, stuck.. nothing. Might be that the fan isn't giving its all anymore, its only 18 yrs old, lol. I guess the current el-cheapo fix is anti-fog or take the wifes car on rainy trips when we carry all the kids.

Almost forgot, when it's in the defrost mode, the AC compressor comes on, regardless of the temp setting. This is to direct the dry, conditioned air onto the glass, speeding up the defogging. Is your AC working properly?
