1994 RMW Proportioning Valve Empty
PostSubject: 1994 RMW Proportioning Valve   1994 RMW Proportioning Valve Icon_minitimeSat Jul 02, 2011 9:57 am

My rusty rear brake line was severed when I set my parking brake. It leaked near my LF tire through the frame rail. The front reservoir completely drained and tripped the brake warning light.
My mechanic replaced the steel line, but can't get the proportioning valve plunger to retract and turn off the warning light. With the plunger toward the firewall, I don't think I have rear brakes, even though both reservoirs are now full?
He found a junk yard donor from a 1992(don't know model) but I see the ac delco for my 1994(AC1722104) don't include 1992 year?
Will this donor part from a '92 fit my 1994 Roadie SW? Seems like repairs always happen on long Holiday wknd! Thanks Crying or Very sad

it would seem to me,. the rear brakes are not bled properly yet,.
if indeed it is sticky,. have one person push really hard on the pedal while the other lightly taps the valve,.

Nick:

Thanks for your reply!
My local boneyard(tear a part) has a 1994 Park Avenue & Regal on premises. Mebbe those would work. Thanks for your valve release input.

Tim

Thanks for the Rock auto info. I've bought from them before. Unfortunately the proportioning valve is not part of the master cyllinder. Its about 5" below, and held by a clamp to the firewall. Looks like the boneyard donors of 1994 Park Avenues & Regals only came in 6 cyl,so those won't work. Did find a new ac delco proportioning valve from autopartswarehouse for $110. Thanks though!

i,m with tim,. i doubt its the proportioning valve,. likely the master is pooched from running without fluid up front,. you have a nice firm pedal?? try unplugging the lead,. stomping the brakes a couple of times,. then re-connect,.
Not really much inside a proportioning valve,.
i,d suspect mastercyl,. and improper bleeding,.
JMHO,.
