| Chris and I are starting to put together a mini-WagonFest to be held on 22 October somewhere in the vicinity of Front Royal, VA.
We aren't planning this event to be quite as big or detailed as the main WagonFest in NY. It will, be wagon focused and a stand alone event.
Front Royal, VA has a variety of hotels and camping locations for those who wish to stay overnight. There are also plenty of things to do if you wish to make a vacation trip out of it, I'll post some links but a quick 'net search will give you plenty of information. Notable attractions are the Skyline Drive which winds through the Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns and Skyline Caverns. October is typically a big tourist draw for the fall color change too. Our event could occur right around the peak color change but it's highly weather dependent.
Plans so far, while fluid, as follows. Friday - Chris and I will be doing a Blazer shifter/console install in my Cruiser. Any early arrivals are welcome to hang out at my home. Perhaps a mini-mod day though unstructured. Possible informal cruise to a local restaurant for dinner.
Saturday - WagonFest Mid-Atlantic Specific location, food plans, etc are still in progress and dependent on how much interest is shown
Sunday - no plans at this time though that may change
What we need from you now. We're not doing registration yet. But we do need to get an idea of how many folks are interested in coming. This isn't a firm commitment yet. So post up if you are seriously considering coming. Let's try to keep this thread on topic (yeah I know....) so it's easier for Chris and I to get a count.

| About 700 miles each way for me. That's quite a haul.
Depending on activities planned, I might be up for it. |

| I just might make this, because my dad might be buying a car down in your neck of the woods. Details to come.
VERY INTERESTED HERE.
Update: Got the wifey looking at work date for her,... to see if she wants to make the drive with me. And her friend from Richmond can come see her while we are down there.

| I'm really looking at this now. Since all my accounts are just north of there in Central PA I might be able to schedule visits the week before or after. Would be able to expense a lot of this. I've got a good friend in Frederick as well, not to far off, and I've not seen him in years.
I'd also love to pull my motorcycle up and ride in that area. I've heard there are some great roads...

| The location for the official 'Fest' hasn't been determined yet. However the address above (Hampton Inn?) will be within a 15 minute drive of any park we use. Or if it's done at my house, about a 20-25 minute drive. There are no hotels, only camp grounds near my home, should the Fest be held there. You may wish to check out 'Andy Guest State Park" This is located just about 5 minutes my house. http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/and.shtmlPretty much any hotel/motel in Front Royal will be about the same distance from our site. Hotel's in Winchester will be a 30-45 minute drive from either Front Royal or my home. Again, this will likely not be as "full featured" an event as the NY Fest so the events listed in my original post won't change hugely. | |

This is happening, no question. What I'm trying to figure out right now is will we have 2 cars or 20. That will dictate where it happens.

Heh, I missed that, thanks. Friday will be rather informal. Chris and I will be taking over a bay in the garage for my console install. At least one other bay will be available if folks want to tinker. Hoses available for car washing (looking at you Tim). We'll probably do a group dinner somewhere or order pizza. Thanks for the offer to help, I might put you to work Saturday!

| Hey, good news to hear. Count me in as 99.8% sure of attending. Maybe I could hook up with Jim off 95 here in Fredericksburg, and we could tag team up that way. My only worry is that I'm on call usually on the weekends. I really don't see it as a problem, so I'm fairly sure I'll be able to make Saturday.
On a related note, I see a few b body wagons running around town here, and I usually throw up the hand to wave when passing, but don't know these people. Is it ok to invite out of the blue, other wagon owners? Don't want to Skew your count.
Oh yeah, speaking of deer...rutting season then, be very careful around then, seems to be a lot of car/ deer related accidents around then.

| I'd have no problem with a few showing up randomly. We're working out food details so that would be the main concern as we don't want to not have enough. This has given me a decent idea of what to look for. Let me work on some ideas with Chris over the next few days and more details will certainly be posted! Once you're sure though, add your name to the list. | |

| I know the drive from my house (made it last year), wife has a cousin about 45 min away....would love to make it, can't even say maybe at this point, but you never know. For those of you who skateboard, Mike has a killer driveway, you can actually ride around in a circle without having to put your foot on the ground if you can pump the board a little. If you are young and stupid you can bomb it all the way down the hill, lol. I just rode around the circle for about 30 minutes | |
