| Betcha forgot I had that? God knows I've tried to. Short version: New STi longblock Rebuilt heads (decked, cleaned, valvejob) Bigger turbo (BNR EVO III 16G) Bigger Injectors (DW850's) Walbro fuel pump Excedy Stage 1 clutch Duralast GOLD battery 18x8.75" rims with 255/35's. OH YEAH! (I ordered chrome black in April - Gold finally came in, so I got those instead) Hope to be driving it next weekend! Break in for a few hundred miles before the DYNO TUNE! | |

| Hope you put new plugs and wires on before you installed the engine . Followed your lead and bought brother Gord an Outback. Looking to get the diesel for it shipped in from Australia. 45 MPG and with more grunt than the 2.5. Know anywhere one might buy gears for these things? Looks good Bill. Just keep it away from the dyno. Bill | |

It's actually coil-on-plug and yeah, plugs and coils will be installed before motor goes in. No idea on the gears. Try http://www.legacygt.com/forums/? as there are a lot of knowledgeble guys there. Lots of international guys, too, with their Subaru "Liberty" instead of "Legacy"... lol It HAS to be dyno tuned with the new setup.

Had to add a coat of reliability to it! I dunno,. better to paint it cummins beige,.or mebbe deere green,... i remember old orange chevy motors,. (points,. carbs,) definitely wouldn't do the mileage between tuneups that say an LT or an LS motor will, you ever try to start an old chevy low compression orange v8 with points and a carb when the weather got cold? meh, btdt. Old school sucks in so many ways,. bad orange juju,.. Nick

| Lol. Quadrizontal. Boo. Hahahahaha...
It runs, but not well. Yet. Still not programmed for the injectors, so it didn't want to stay running, and was running pig rich when it did. But i managed to get it home 4 miles from the shop... Hope to get a break in tune on it so i can go seat the rings this afternoon, and then change the oil, again. Changed it after it came up to temp the first time. Plan is to get a couple hundred miles on it, change the oil again, and get it to Bren for a tune. I still have to install the fuel pump, perrin intercooler (was missing o-ring for turbo flange), catch can for pcv, ebcs, and gauges.
So, not done yet, but getting there...

| Look who's finally home! And quite the crowd... So a scoobie friend came by last night and loaded my break-in flash for me. Runs MUCH better now. And so much for "no boost anywhere" in this flash. It starts building boost at like 2200 rpms! No matter how light I am on the throttle. This thing JUST. WANTS. TO. GO!!!!! It's going to be a very hard week trying to stay off the boost!!!! Just did the 25 mile oil change tonight. Taking it to work tomorrow. So far, so good. Hope all continues to go well! Gotta do the gauges after work tomorrow, and the intercooler if the mailman brings the o-rings for it. Hope to do the walbro one night this week too, and I should be ready for my dyno tune on Saturday! | |

Not gonna lie... I think it's going to be a bit quicker than that car. It throws me back in the seat at 1/4 throttle with a **** tune and minimum boost... Wasn't expecting it, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't in the 12's when it's tuned.

| Oh boy! Getting even CLOSER!!!! Got my big Perrin TMIC and Forge recirculating valve installed today. I had to re-route a pcv and vacuum line, but managed to make the room. It was a struggle, but I got that monster on there! I also swapped out a bunch of hardware with stainless stuff... And this is why they call it the Perrin Stealth... I managed to get the stock cover to fit!!! Took a bit of trimming and drilling, but it's on there! Woot! I had to add a coil spring twist-in spacer to the driver's rear coil. For some reason, it sits about 1/2"-3/4" lower there than the other 3 wheels, and that tire is really getting chewed! I think the spring is worn out or even broken. I need to see about getting some firmer, STOCK HEIGHT springs. Maybe some stiffer struts, too... Gotta charge the AC (tonight) and install Walbro fuel pump and roll and flare the fenders (tomorrow) and she's ready to tune on Saturday!!!! I can hear the turbo spool and the Forge valve chug through the CAI. Sounds awesome! | |

| So, still chasing gremlins. Running badly (chugging) under low throttle, high load, off boost, under 3K rpms. Runs awesome once boost starts to build. Passed pressure tests. Was wondering if I messed up the PCV system. I didn't. I finally had some time tonight to double and triple check everything. My lines were routed as stock, just not with stock pieces. I added another catch can today, so now I have one for the head vent tubes and one for the pcv, both T'd into the same port on the inlet, sharing the vacuum. But they are independent before that point. Essentially set up as the Perrin inlet tube instructions say to do, but with catch cans in line. Here's a couple pics: I also removed and cleaned the throttle body and replaced the O-ring. Has anyone ever done a coolant bypass for the TB? I used to do that on my other cars, figuring it was a good idea to cool the intake temps a little further by not having it flow through a TB with engine temp coolant running through it. Never had any problems in winter in my other cars. I just used a piece of 5/16" hose on the engine side and a couple vacuum caps on the TB to keep the crap out, in case I decide to return it to stock design. While I was doing all this, I also zip-tied every vacuum connection I could find and more permanently secured my EBCS and MAP sensor and rerouted the lines to the EBCS. I replaced the check valve/filter between the intake and MAP with a new Subaru replacement, too. I'm just waiting on my new Depo gauges to show up (oil pressure and boost) to replace my cheesy Sunpro ones, and I will put the intercooler back on it, button it all back up, hook the battery back up, cross my fingers and go for a ride. | |
