| Good News for all you Wagonfest Nationals 2012 festers.
Once again, our own Bewber (John) has graciously accepted an offer to produce both event stickers and T-shirts for this years Wagonfest Nationals.
Does anyone recall who made the dash plaques last year. Last year on this forum we discussed having the vehicle winning overall favorite being on the following years plaque. I'd like to keep that tradition alive. Any thoughts?
As with John, once again I'd like to keep our Wagonfest business within our own wagon community, by having someone within make the items. ideas please?

Perhaps stop trying to duplicate the previous wagon fests,. next thing you know you're going to want money to cover plaques, prizes,. auctions,. bingo, bake sale, trophies .dinner, breakfast,.gifts,.t shirts pants,. jackets,. kids toys,.key fobs,. You'll be all stressed out because the minimums aren't met,.and folks will be expected to chip for stuff they don't give a raahtzaz about,. I thought this year the theme was simplicity,.show up,. and every man for himself,.and that was a popular idea?? As i said last year, why not 1 decent polo type shirt with wagonfest on one side and forum name or given name on the other,. re-usable every year,. i,ve got a drawer full of t shirts that i don't wear,(dating back to 05). i don't look good in much these days and a t shirt makes it all look worse,. *sigh* deja vu,. Nick jm2c,. majority rules of course,.

| Dave,
I gotta, agree with Nick, if it you want to keep this thing going, keep it simple, it will work great; if you make it a lot of work again, WF will have a short shelf life. Eliminate all the things that add up to too much work.
I think I read, you were going to bring a barbecue. I think that is a bad move. Let everyone be self contained. Dave, you need to reread this post (include your postings). The message is loud and clear--Keep it simple!. If you get geared up like other years, you're just creating a problem down the road.

| I have to agree with Nick too. Simplicity is best. But more than willing to help you out Dave when I get there. I know some of you look forward to the extra stuff and it is nice,... but simplicity is best IMHO. Will do whatever the majority says in the end without regrets. Just love being there.
Thanks John for doing the shirts again. I would still like to get some long sleeeve shirts from you too. Like I had mentioned in another thread.

| There are already costs involved regardless. The 20x40 tent is not free. The shelters were never free. There is a Fee for every vehicle to enter the park. the Beer permit was free last year. New York State might charge for it this year.
I will try to minimize the costs, but it won't be zero

| Dave,
I think the program as it was last year was great. That being said, it was a lot of work for Mike, Michele, Joel and others.
I would get some funds as a deposit and commitment from attendees before I would put much $$ as a deposit on a tent. Do a survey and see will attend.
T-shirts are something I think work well. Maybe just let Bewber offer them to whom ever wants them. That keeps you out of the mix and helps your simplicity.
I agree with Tom on the Grille. If you do any food we can call in or go get pizza or subs on our own.
Dash plaques are not my thing, but I know others like them (Scoob8000). I do not think these will break the bank for anyone.
It sounds like the car show in Geneva after the track works great and keeps it simple for Friday.
Put me down as an attendee.

| dave,. the tent i can see as a necessary,.what ever the cost,.it should be divided between the participants,.a quick round of the hat will take care of that,
.if it,s too much costs up front, then post up a paypal addy,. and we can contribute upfront.
i signed for the beer permit last couple of years,. no biggie,. it can be done the day of,.
There are those community hokey BBQ pits if i remember rightly? a bag of bricks and everyone can cook their own,.?? BBQ lamb sounds good,.with a nice mint sauce,.
i,m hoping to have the blue wagon there this year,.

| Nick, and everyone else Thanks for the encouragement.
I had asked about a Grill site being near the tent and was assured there was one there. So, I agree bringing some charcoal and some lighter isn't a big deal. Not a problem.
I think what made such a big production of last year, was the hassle Mike went through trying to accommodate everyone's desires with wings and salads and pizzas. God bless him for trying so hard.
At the same time,I don't want to send people packing to fend for them selves. I'd be a poor host to do that . I'm looking at it more like you guys have been invited to my house for a picnic... and you all have the courtesy to eat what's put in front of you. It won't be lamb chops. (unless of course one of the sheep really pisses me off ahead of time)
Grabbing a few packs of dogs and burgers, rolls and toppings isn't a big deal either. What doesn't get eaten becomes my labor Day dinner. This meal will not be up to Weight Watchers Points standards Ain't happening. I also need to call back to make sure they throw a few tables underneath it as well.

| Pizza, wings, subs were the easy part, that's why we did that. No food prep, just pick it up at Wegman's, and clean up is light and easy.
The hardest part was getting all the stuff to the Lake. 2 cars, drinks, coolers, paper products, Ice, trash bags (good ones), and all the other stuff that gets overlooked until the last minute. After it's all said and done you have to get all your trash packed up to go back with you. We can't leave anything behind in the park, they will charge you a fee.
Dave, I'm not sure the hot dogs and hamburgers will be any good 10 months later.

You see whats happening already?,. somehow dave you are shouldering the job of "host",.precisely what i think we should try to avoid,.IF people are smart enough to find wagonfest on the internet, they should be smart enough to read the sticky stating they will be responsible for their own food stuffs garbage etc,.I,m sure there will be some community food available,. I,ve read of many other car get ogethers and i,ve attended a couple where folks provide for themselves,.an extra burger or a pop here and there means little,.or if folks want to share their particular fare all the better,.but come to this event knowing full well you are going to have to take care of your own needs, and plan accordingly.. Wagonfest has enough merit and tradition, it does not need a host for foods per se, it,s great that your are co-ordinating things at your end with the park folkskudo,s to you too., Wagonfest needs to be primarily a longroof forum membership driven event, with all members ahsorbing the costs and labour necessary to make it a really fun `community` event,. Rise to the occasion wagoneers,.pack your wagons,.and come to new york for the wagonfest days Nick jmho, mroc

| Ok, First off count me in. I am working on my hotel booking and I have already requested the time off from work.
Now on to the less important stuff.
I am with Nick.
I vote we stick with the KISS principal. (Keep it Simple Stupid)
No one person has to do anything special besides to make sure we have a central point. Dave you have taken this on and that's all you should have to be concerned with. Thank you for doing this and please let us know the Cost so we can all chip in towards the expense. The attendees as a group can cover everything else we will need. If you feel you want to help or provide more then please feel free to do so. You should not however feel obligated beyond this besides showing up and having a good time.
I put on several events over the summer for my Flying club. The best events are the ones where you are in charge of what you want to bring.
For example one person brings a generator one brings the propane for the grill another brings some food etc.. We fly some things we crash some we eat some and everyone has a good time.
So for this I propose. Bring a cooler. Bring some food. Everyone brings some good stories and we have a nice day hanging out at the park.
No need to complicate anything just follow the Kiss Principal.
I also like an Open format. No requirements no pressure. Just hang out do what we do.
As far as the other events go. I really had a good time at the Track. I also think going to the car show on Friday night will be a good time. Hang out at the park on Saturday then Head home Sunday sometime after we crawl out of the Hotel.

I have been out of the loop for a while here, I think my last wagon fest was 2008 or maybe even 2007 and my wagon has been mothballed for longer than I care to think about, but I hope to make it up there this year! |

| I have just received confirmation that the City of Geneva is in fact having their cruise-in car show on Friday July 27, 2012 within the downtown area. Plenty of cool cars to look at, and food vendors to be taken in.
They are also trying to organize a cruise around the lake earlier in the day. Perhaps some that have no interest in going to Watkins Glen for laps at the track, may find this of interest as an alternative. It might also prove useful as a Friday night event after the track.
I'll keep you posted as more information becomes available from the civic group that sponsors it.
