| As some of you know, there is a MAJOR local show on Saturday that I am scheduled to participate in. So I decided to play around with some paint that I had left over and painted a spare grill body color. I decided to "black out" the word Buick to set it apart. Now I don't know what to do. Which grill should I compete with? Keep in mind that for the judging, the hood will be open, but will be closed after judging (1pm) until after the concert (11 PM). So, without further adieu, here is the question in pictorial form for those of us that are visually perverted Stock...... we all know what it looks like. Both grills side by side Close up (to help in the decision process) The "new" grill Yuck! Bad lighting Better lighting..... and the close up of the completed project So, what should I do? Keep the stock grill, or show it with the painted grill, or "Crovo" the fins? At least tomorrow will be spent buffing, polishing, waxing, and cleaning.... God I hate showing daily drivers | |

I like that! Very subtle. You gotta black out the mounting tabs though if you go with a painted grille, they just show up too much.

How 'bout body color the letters and black out the fins on the chrome bezel? I no longer have MAB in spray-able form. I do, however, still have some in a scratch pen.

| Well...I like the outer part of the grille body color. (with BUICK still in black) Looks kinda cool that way. But I think you should black out the center and mounting tabs for sure (don't forget the heads of the mounting screws too) I am sure you will figure out what you like! Can't wait to see pics form the show! Chris | |

| Did somebody call me? I like the chrome grill with the black letters myself. But body color letters may look nice, too. Can you put some clear on that one you painted and buff it up nice so it matches the body? That may look ok if you black out between the fins and the mounting tabs, too... | |

| OK, decided on the chrome grill with body colored letters. The chrome is starting to fail, but I think it looks more "proper" on the car than the painted one does. I also think that the hood ornament looks out of place with the painted grill. Might look better with a Suncoast hood? | |

Wise choice I'd say, if you take away the chrome you take away the luxury feeling of the Buick and (no offense Chevy guys) then it'll soon be "just" a Caprice. In my opinion that is

| +1 on what Pat said.
What I found now that I "Crovoed" my grill 5K ago, is that I didn't rough it up enough and road debris has sand blasted the black off so it's sorta Dalmatian chrome right now (getting sprayed again tomorrow I hope). That was two coats black and two coats clear (all Home Depot paint).

| One other ideal is to leave the fins chrome and remove the black from the letter so there chrome and paint the outer shell body color. | |
