Wagonfest 2013

Mark your calendars.

Wagonfest 2013 will be held on Friday & Saturday, July 26 & 27 at Seneca Lake State park, Geneva NY.

I will edit this thread from time to time to keep it reasonably on topic.

I am looking into booking my hotel now. Did anybody ever look into getting a group rate, for a discount?

what i did this year was open a wyndham rewards credit card they gave you points for a stay at one of there hotels. microtel is one of thiers. if you payed $25.00 for a premium card they get you reward points faster and give you more for opening the card. i did it about 5 months before the fest and had enough points for 3 nights. i used 2 nights for wf and it was a free weekend for us. cant get cheaper than that

The microtel, July 2013 was the cutoff for booking ahead. I have not booked mine yet, But I'm thinking about it. I just need to check some other sources, and see if my dad can get a LEO discount.

Usually if I am on the road I ask what the Verizon Communication rate it. They usually give it to me with out problem. Try any major corporation. Or if you have a government connection that is usually the best rate.

Cory so 2 cars next year right? I am going to bring my B-body caprice if I don't get a wagon.

Cory, just stack them on top of each other. The resulting air resistance really isn't all that bad.

Cory, you'd better be going. I'm going to do everything I can to make it this year. My wagon is on the road now. I've been to several wagon fests, never in a wagon. I'm not much of a popular guy around here but I've probably met most of you. Hope to be there 2013 hopefully in my wagon. If not, in my Fleetwood or my Caprice if its finished and I can't take the wagon.

DCOLDS, in past years the Microtel books out so if even semi-serious book the room (u can cancel later or offer it up to another forum member). There is also a Holiday Inn about half a mile away, but most stay at the Microtel. I'm sure there will be a big thread later.

We are flexible but be sure to watch for the registration information. Having a head count helps with the food and such.

just booked my room i better get the wagon done now. the whole crew will be coming so you might want to bring ear plugs

When In doubt about Wagonfest 2013, My suggestion is look over the info about Wagonfest 2012. There is a wealth of info there about what will happen and the local, camping and motel info.
What may be different is whether the county fair or the local car show will coincide, as they seems to vary in timing. I have not researched those areas yet. The general outline of how the actual day of Wagonfest progresses will remain the same.

Maybe we'll get a young guy pacing the tour like we did in 2010. The last 2 years have been a bit slow.

On a related note: At WF FL, the car show is held on the infield of the speedway. Well, on Saturday it's about 3:30 in the pm and time to leave. So we pack up and head out, I follow the line of traffic.

The next thing you know, I'm on the track. I could see it coming, but there's no other place for me to go. I just let it happen. Wasn't too long a cop came with lights on. I told him I'm just trying to get the hell out of here. He laughed and told me what to do. He said the other cars where there for a photo.

I guess I probably stuck out like a sore thumb, as the other cars were about 15 Miata's. Oh well, I can say I have been on the track now.

The cruise down the wine country to the track is the biggest reason I would want to go again. I'm not gonna lie... I cried when I saw roughly 15 wagons cruising such a gorgeous scene.

Room officially booked. Now it's time to decide what car to prepare for the event.

Sounds like a plan!! We have only done Watkins 2x..... 2011 & 2012. Did you hit your head Mike?

You mean you missed 2010 where we had the guy that was testing for the historic weekend lead us around in the orange McClaren?

Tim even passed the guy in his "Not a Hot Rod" and almost got thrown out. Something about throttles sticking open. Too bad I didn't own a video camera back then, but they were so far ahead, it likely wouldn't have shown up well.

I took my folks back a month later and I think I figured it out - we need to show up later than we did last time. If you're in the front of the line, you go whatever speed the pace truck goes. If you're in the back of the line, well...

Good news. It does seem that the Geneva Car show is that same weekend.
So it looks like Friday night might be spent in downtown Geneva, just like last year.

I'm trying to get better confirmation from the people who host the event.
