| Hey guys, I posted this over at BuickForumsa.com but their pages seem to be down so often I can't get over there and check it. Silverfox mentioned I could come over here saying you guys would help us sedan boys out too Anyways I have a 1995 roadmaster with stock exhaust. The mufflers are leaky and I need to get new ones. I just recently bought the car and Had to do a lot of work to get it running good, intake gasket, plugs wires all filters etc. Runs great now, just need the exhaust to sound better. Now the car isnt something to right home about, its nice but not enough for me to want to be abnoxious with loud exhaust. Anyone have experience/suggestions on a muffler that is quiet yet if you walk by if you can tell there is a v8 in there. Something that sounds better than stock, but doesn't have the raspy/poppy sound, more of a deep strong sound. I will leave the cats and resonators on it. Thanks kov | |

| If you are keeping the cats and resonators.... almost anything will work. First thing to do to 'let them know it has a V-8' is to remove the intake stuff under the hood.
I had the Magnaflows and I liked them.... a LOT... until I put the X pipe in. Summit Turbo's are cheap and sound good, they just don't last too long up north. | |

| Yea I have heard good things about magnaflows. Do you remember which ones you had? And I thought about the summit turbos, because they are cheap, but here in Michigan it doesn't sound like they will last long like you said. And I actually just finished up the intake stuff under the hood. The exhaust just sounds aweful so Im not reaping the benefits. thanks kov | |

| I would say Summit Turbos too...you can paint them with high temp paint. I used to run them when I was living in Louisville (which is not MI winter..but still salt and snow) and they lasted fine. I did paint them though.
I had them installed on my RMS with the same setup you have. I liked it a lot (not too loud until you got on it...but you heard a little more at idle too)
Got any pics of your sedan? Welcome!!

| Hi and thank you. Yea I have a pic, like I said its nothing to write home about. And I am confused now because I took it to muffler man just to see what they suggested. They said V-force, and they said I am looking for : offset/offset 2 1/4' and center/offset 2 1/4'. But when I look at the mufflers neither has a center tube? Anyways, What size do I need, is the 2 1/4' correct? If I do summit turbo is that the size I am looking for? And between Magnaflow and summit turbo, which would provide just the throaty sound and no rasp? Can you let me know if these are the right ones? Because I have read some people get the 2.5' ones.. Magnaflow :13235 Summit Turbo : 630222 I will probably order one of these, I do like the price of the turbos. (both are shorter than stock mufflers, will that be an issue?) Thanks guys kov | |

| The magnaflows I have are nothing more than stainless steel glasspacks. They have mellowed out some with age but I still hate them. | |

| Thanks for the input, looks like ill go with the cheaper turbos then. Now does the 2 1/4' sound about right, and summit turbos are much shorter than stock, any issue fitting them in?
Thanks

| Yeah, you want 2 1/4 if you are using stock exhaust. They will just make an extension pipe to make up for the shorter muffler. You also want offset / offset mufflers. Once you get home from the shop...get under there and paint the welds and new pipe to help it last longer. (you can pre-paint the muffler before you go) Just throwing this out there too...but THESE are the mufflers I run on my wagon. Once I heard them in person on a B-body...I was "Hooked". A lot more money though (but a very good muffler and deep sound) Always get a lot of compliments on the sound. Do you remember Stewart (Roadmonster?) He was the one who first told me about these. He ran them on his RMS as well. HERE are the 2.25in Offset/offset ones. Chris | |

| Hmm those really are not that expensive. And they sound like what I would want. Maybe ill take a little more time and save up and grab those. Thanks for the tip, and the links, very very helpful. If I do end up getting the turbos, I will paint. But I will try to save up for the hookers Thanks! kov | |

| If you are up north, or in cold climate or drive short trips, a standard steel muffler will rust out every 2 years. I put Dynomax 17779's on mine and like the mellow sound, but they fell off in 2 years. I replaced them and 2 years later they again fell off. ( I painted both sets of mufflers in Hi Temp paint, but they rusted from the inside more than anything)
I recently but the dynomax VT's on and absolutely love them. Stainless steel, silent while cruising, and scream muscle when you floor it. Your's would be quieter because you have resonators and whatnot.
