Hi, I recently got a great deal on a 95 Impala radio, and I was wondering if
it will electrically hook up to my 96 Roadmaster wagon. I kind of thought
this would be a no-brainer substitute, but I have recently read some
info that there are quite possibly different recepticles used in these vehicles. tks ed

No, it will not. It will fit a 94, as that's what I have in mine.

I'm sure there is a way Ed, but I don't know it. Actually there may be wire harness adapters available on ebay. I think I remember Corey over on the Roadmaster site mentioning it.

It can be done, you have to get the harness ends from a Caprice/Impala like this:
http://www.uneeksupply.com/1994-Chevrolet-Caprice-Wire-Harness-for-Radio-Install_p_22408.html#

Also pickup a radio harness adapter from walmart to plug into your roadmaster harness like this one:
http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/installation/1996-up-general-motors-car-stereo-connector-with-butt-connectors

Splice them together and your radio with electrically work. As far as mounting, the Impala radio is smaller than the 95/94 Roadmaster radio. You can mount it by removing the radio from the roadmaster and removing the adapter bracket the radio bolts to. The Impala radio should then bolt up to where the bracket was.
you'll have some gaps around the radio opening and can leave it if that doesn't bother you. Or you can grab a dash face out of a 94 Roadmaster and it will fill those gaps.
