| Anybody got a good guess other than brake light switch. The guy has already changed that twice. He has a 95 Roadmaster wagon and can't keep fuses in it. | |

| The switch will not cause the fuse to blow. There is a short in the brake light system. It may be in the column. You need an ohm meter to show you where it is shorting to ground. Disconnect the connector for the turn signal module on the steering column and try pressing the pedal. Check the turn signal side of the connector for wires that are grounding. It should be a white wire. Another check is to put the turn signal on, and push the brake pedal (both sides separately). If the fuse blows both ways, it is the turn signal switch/wiring. If it only blows on one side, the opposite side from the one selected has a short. Right should be a dark green wire, and left should be a yellow wire. | |

| Not sure if it has tow harness, and I'll relay this info to him. | |

| In place of the fuse use a light bulb. Remove the fuse and insert the bulb in place of it. Now if the bulb lights up you have a direct short to ground. If the light does not light up, start moving the wiring harnesses around and watch the bulb. When the bulb lights up you will be in the general area of the short to ground. If the bulb lights up constantly start isolating the circuit by removing the loads, at each respective connector and work you way back to the fuse block. What ever component you disconnect and the light bulb goes out is likely the source of the short. Make sure harnesses are not pinched. Was the car recently involved some body shop work? Any recent modifications or added on accessories that may have influenced the problem? When does the fuse blow, when the brakes are applied or does the fuse blow when installing it? I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me right now. Once I do, I can provide more information.
Using this method will save you on fuses until the problem is located. Use for diagnostics purposes only, it's NOT a replacement for the fuse by any means. | |

| I like the light idea. It gives you a safe way to check for grounding without blowing a lot of fuses. | |
