It seems like I am in a never ending battle with my 91 OCC. Saturday morning another motorist told me my brake lights were not working. I started by checking the voltage at the brake switch. 3 volts??? I then went to the fuse...the lower fuse clip was pushed back into the fuse block. Well that explains why the lights aren't working.

Now the fix. I tried to push the clip back into the block and it is an impossible task. You can not see the back of the block with the dash in place. So I remove the dash...still can't see the back of the fuse block. Removed the dash pad...still no joy. Well, I have to remove the dash support. This is the 4th or 5th time I have removed the dash support in the last 6 months. I am really getting tired of pulling the dash support.

Now that I can see the back of the fuse block, Ii dug through the wires, and pulled the clip...one of the tangs that engage the block to hold the clip in is bent flat. I bent it back out to where it is supposed to be, and jammed it into the block. It held...amazing. It took me about 6 hours of troubleshooting (20 minutes), disassembling and reassembling the dash, but now my brake lights are working again.

Sometimes I think this car is manufacturing these issues just to keep me from doing anything else. Maybe it is a jealous car, and wants total attention. I had a wife like that. Maybe I am a little nutty, but it sure seems like the car does these things on purpose. The issues I have are really off the wall, and have some strange and time consuming fixes. I guess it does give me a story to tell.

It's still cheaper than a wife.
