| Has anyone out there in Wagonland ever changed over their front suspension to use the larger 5/8" ball joints from the 95-96 9C1 police cars? I am told that our stock lower A arms need to be modified to fit the larger ball joints. Also just wondering, for those of you that have made this change,is there any noticable differance in handling , steering or stability with the larger ball joints? ed

| Merely conjecture here since I don't actually know but I would think that the only benefit is better durability since fleet cars usually see severe duty service. | |

| Yup, I have a set. You won't notice any difference, though that's not to say it's not a good upgrade. | |

| Waay over rated mod,.another one of those "just because mods,." It,d be a different story if the roads and race tracks were littered with broken ball joints,. I drive my cars to their max,. i haven't broken one yet,. but then again i haven't twisted a set of rear control arms either,. just lucky right?

I haven't broken a ball joint either. I agree that it's a "just because mod". IMO the 5/8" BJ are like rear LCAs. If you need to replace them, may as well upgrade. When doing the front end rebuild, it's easier to change the whole front control arm (may as well do the coil springs at the same time) than to replace old bushings in a rusty arm anyhow. | |
