Drive the Glen... Watkins Glen International. It's back for 2016!
It's 3 paced laps around the famed road coarse, 55mph.... or so, depends on who's pacing this year, and/or how far you hang back. They were been a bit more strict with the rules last year, having a pace truck out in front, and in the back.
We can line the wagons up on the starting grid for a group shot after the 2nd lap, so bring your cameras/phones.
Drive the Glen will be Friday July 22nd. 4:30pm, check in at gate #2.
$25.00 each car.
We can all drive down together, leaving from the Geneva Wegman's (for last minute pit stops) parking lot at 2:30-2:45pm, stopping in the village of Watkins Glen at "The Shop" to get the tickets, and then heading to the track. It's a nice scenic ride down the west side of Seneca Lake that will take about 45-50 minutes.
For those of you meeting us at the track, pm me we will work out the ticket purchasing.
Passengers of any age are welcome to ride along, so bring the kids.....
This isn't racing, but it's not a Sunday drive either. So, Check your brakes!... And skip the ceramic pads, they don't deal with the heat well. Check the rest of the car too, the Glen does not like spilled fluids on the track. Make sure you're car is up to this.
The meeting place info: Geneva Wegman's 300 Hamilton St Rt. 5 & 20 just west of Rt. 14 Geneva , NY 14456 (315) 781-5800
Hope to see a bunch of new faces at the track, it really is a blast.
Problems: Call my cell. 585-733-8835

In the picture above was Tim actually dancing or falling down? Kinda looks like a guy who's had 1 too many trying to make an escape?

waterford was a fun time,. only a few folks noticed my times,.
Seized the motor up thursday night during "testing' before the nationals,.
so i went into my stash and pulled a new crate motor out and we put it in friday,.finished about 8 pm or so,. went to the nationals at 6 am,. the motor got "broken in" on the way there,. it only had about 150 miles on it in that video,. i did pretty good for stock brakes,. 3:73's with a 2800 converter,.

Thank you Mike for pulling this together. Count me in! Im not sure Matt can make the trip in from Brooklyn. I also like the idea of the Brewery tour. Is this going to happen?

Okay guys, I confirmed with The Glen people that the track is open for this Friday, so we're a go.
I'm probably not going to make it to the Glen myself unfortunately as my vacation day got voided. I may make it to the Glen at the last minute, but I'm not optimistic.
Tony, aka Matts Dad, will be taking my spot as coordinator so to speak. He will get the tickets for the guy(s) that are meeting the group at the track, at Gate#2.
I'll see y'all soon, drive safe. Mike

Well, this might end up being a small group going to the Glen. Too bad, for the peeps not making it for what ever reason, and that includes me. It's a new surface this year, and the Sprint Cup drivers will be there two weeks later for the Cheez-It 355.
