Rain, ha, no rain in site.... Weathermen. Beautiful day, and a ton of fun.
Lining up to go.
Jerrod waiting patiently....
Getting on the track.
Tim Swink (BigBlackBeaSSt) just ahead, then Doug (Yachtdriver), then some clown in a Trailblazer.
Photo op. at the start/finish line.
More "racing". Nick jumped to the front, he was tired of following the tbi cars.
Mike P. (DBeaSSt) wheelin' the Olds around pretty well.
After the thrashing.
Tim thinks he won, so he did a victory break dance.... Try that Tony Stewart. Dave's (lakeffect) standing on the wall looking for parts that fell off Shamoo.
Doug accused Tim of bump drafting....

Here's more. Videos will be posted tonight.
Tim had chili for lunch and was passing gas, so we made him stay up there.
Dinner at Mac's Diner
A few more Wagonfesters joined us for dinner.
Mt Tattooed White Trash himself, getting ready to flame some magic.

Nice pics so far. I wouldn't expect much updates until tonight. Everyone is at the park in the middle of it all. There should be a live video stream on the web of activities, lol

No doubt, maybe Fred should set up a web cam at his place for future events? How cool would that be? Apart from all the mooning shots we might get.... : )

I know I hit 82 on the back straight, and Doug (yacht driver) claimed to hit 89. I believe that claim as when I hitting 82 he was pulling away from me.
When we were met by the "pace vehicle, I thought "Oh Great a Red freaking pickup truck, this is gonna suck!". I gotta admit he was letting us have some fun, as he cranked it right up immediately through the fabled Esses, Turn 2, 3, and 4 at the Glen. We all flew through the Bus Stop and the end of the back straight and zipped around down into the forested area known as the boot. We were on the long course, that is used for the enduro prototypes, and sports car racing.

We will be doing this again next year. I asked about renting the track for the day, or a few hours, but they only rent it out by the weekend..... $20,000 to start. So, we will do the 3 paced laps for $15.00. This was the highlight of the weekend for me, and the weekend was great. Everyone needs to do this next year, it was tons of fun.

Wish I could have been there, I love seeing all those wagons on the track! I raced a Porsche 944 at the Glen in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk series, love that track. Maybe next year I'll be able to make it to WF.

Here's a few more follow up photos.
Nick and Doug in the stands, waiting for our track time.
This is what we were watching. A Porsche club had some track time

If you have trouble fining them, look under "Thunder Road Tours" and the date of 2011/07/29

Comes right up for me to page 2, might be Firefox, I don't know.
Anywho, go to the home page, then gallery, fill in the info: Watkins Glen International, 7/29/2011, Thunder Road Tours. Our group starts at page 2. Hope this helps.

Tim,... I just watched watched your vid, LMFAO just listening to her comments got me laughing. I especiall like "your only suppose to go 55 and your doing 70" She was a good sport. SLOW DOWN!
Tim, you should have had "Can't drive 55" in the background with Lisa singing backup.
Good video.

Tim, that was a great video and looked like it was a blast. I wish we could have done that last year when I was there. I would love to get on the track. Lisa, you did a very good job of shooting the footage even if you were a little scared.

lol, uh Tim..., you might want to disable the voice warning and navigation the next time. Hmmmm, guess the olds didn't come with that nifty feature.
Nice video though. : )

Good News men,.... my better half (Valerie) told me that she wants me to buy my brothers wagon so she can drive one to wagonfest next year. Love her to death. Also willing to bet we will have a much bigger crowd for Watkins Glen next year.

Ok, So here is the videos I took from the roof and dashboard. Audio is not that hot from the backwards cam as it was in the wind. So you may want to moderate your volume after the takeoff. The forwards cam is ok except for the clicking from the mount and the sounds of my cargo (beer) rattling around in the car. (I didn't get to check in before we went to the track so I had everything with me.)
Both videos are a little over 13 minutes long. They are also in HD if you have the bandwith.
You can see how S L O W the Envoy was. The truck kept slowing down to let it catch up. You can also see at the break (7:46) where they rushed to make sure they were in the lead again. They took off before the doors were closed!
Here is the Backwards cam. It was placed on the Roof Rack. Looks pretty good but the audio is no good over 20 mph.
This was a really fun event. I would definitely like to do this again some time. Or perhaps adult level Go-Karts? Be allowed to actually pass.....
Not 100% sure what side to post this on so I posed in both the Watkins Glen and Wagonfest threads.
