Watkins Glen Thunder Road Tour - New York Wagon Fest

To be clear, this is NOT racing. This is just three laps around the track at 55mph-ish speeds. You know, like the speeds you go when you pass a 55mph speed limit sign.

This is a light/moderate rain or shine event. Heavy rain/Thunder storms will put a halt to it though.

They are calling for rain, but they were calling for rain last year too. Here is a link for a up to date Watkins Glenn forecast.

They ere calling for a 40% chance of rain last year while we were at the track, but this is what the sky looked like at the track.... it ended up being a beautiful day.

I'll be meeting everyone on Frriday Afternoon about 2:15-2:30 pm at Wegman's on Rt's 5 & 20

Hope they got done paving already. As of 4pm Thursday afternoon, Watkins Glen just got pounded with thunderstorms. At least the track will be washed clean by the time we get to it!

When I called this morning I specifically asked about the paving. I was told the track will be available, and they had no idea what I was talking about.

It just stopped raining when I drove through at 8:30ish tonight.

I have made the decision to Forgo Watkins Glen this year. I had a good time last year but I would rather attend the Car show early in Geneva.

My wagon did surprisingly well today once I pumped the air shocks up to max. It was scary sloppy the night before I did that.

It's not racing, but I've seen the videos of what some of you guys were doing though thoe turns.

The car show (the last time it coincided with the Fest) was very worth going. Lots of very neat cars.

If you are trying to find Wegman's. the address is 300 Hamilton St. Geneva NY.

It's west of the state park, and also west of Downtown Geneva.

From the Motel, Take Rts 5 & 20 west, going PAST Rt 14 . The name of the road will simply become Hamilton St as you pass under Rt 14. Wegman's will be on the right about a half mile away. You won't miss it.

I'll hit the car show for a while as well, so let's get away from the Glen as soon as it is over. Just head out the gate and keep going.
