The 55mph speed limit is set by the pace car. Generally you are not allowed to pass anyone. Someones, unintentionally no doubt, someone might accidentally fall behind the pack. It's not unusual for them to try their best to catch up.

nick I've done it before and if you get the right "pace car" driver, the 55 mph limit is not the case...... Hint of the day: Start out near the end of the group. That way you can screw around and pass people. Just don't pass the pace car! (don't ask me how I know....)

| I am thinking of going to WagonFest 2011 in NY. I have a couple of questions regarding where everyone stays.
1) Are there a lot of activities based at the HQ hotel? 2)Would I miss a lot if I stayed down the road a piece?
Reason I am asking is a friend owns the Glen Motor in Watkins Glen and can stay there for a low low discount price. Looks to be less than an hour from there to WagonFest.

| There is an "after party" in the grass lot next to the Microtel on both Friday and Saturday nights. Fermented beverages and stale conversation are in abundance until the last person leaves.... which is around the time the rest of us wake up........
Can you stay at the Glenn? Sure. Just commute.

| If I was you, I'd stay at the Microtel. It sucks to have to drive home at midnight (been there done that, 'cause I live 45 minutes away and have commitments on sundays). If you're traveling by yourself, just post up that you're looking to split a room and you can get a deal. | |

Hey Tim,
Thanks so much for the message. I really appreciate the info. I'd love to attend something like that if my schedule ever allows, so I'll definitely look into it.
I really love the wagons and I hope everyone will be able to look back at smile at our show. I know we had to sacrifice a wagon, but it was for the good of us all
Hope you're good...thanks again for the message. Take care, Rutledge

| I just want to remind everyone to make plans, and reservation for Wagonfest Northeast '11, in Waterloo, NY. Fri., and Sat., July 29th, and 30th.
Microtel contact info: 1966 Route 5 & 20, Seneca Falls, NY - (315) 539-8438
It will be much as the same as last year other than adding a Fri. trip down to Watkins Glen International for a Thunder road tour with the wagons.... This will be BIG fun.
Hope to see all of you there, Lord willing. MIke

| Nick, there's a trick to it.
The PACE CAR is doing 55. So if you are first in line it's a bust. The trick is to be in the back and let everyone go on ahead. Then you wail it trying to catch up to them.

| I guess I could claim I was abducted, but truth is, life got a bit complicated. Spring is officially here (although there's talk of that white crap making yet another appearance in this area , so with warmer weather and a sense of a new beginning, I intend to make a remarkable come-back. I've got plans for my blue barge so she looks real nice in time for wagonfest. I'm looking forward to sprucing her up. | |

| The Watkins Glen Thunder Road Tour is ON. The track has our reservation listed under Wagon Fest. It will be Friday July 29th 4:30pm, check in at gate #2.
I have it reserved for 15-20 cars at $15.00 each car load, minimum 10 cars. We pay for and get the tickets on our way to the track in the village of Watkins Glen at the track store.
I'm thinking we can all drive down together leaving from the Microtel, stopping in the village of Watkins Glen at "The Shop" to get the tickets, then heading to the track.
The other option would be the 11:30am Thunder Road tour the same day. I picked the 4:30 because many people don't get to Waterloo until the afternoon.
It would be nice if anyone that is interested let me know ahead of time for a ruff car count.
