2 weeks ago we went to Moultrie, GA. (near Valdosta) for the HUGE swap meet and INC Fall Fest. had a great time, seen Seanu & his OCC, Navy Lifer and his Buick Roady wagon there. Last weekend (thanksgiving weekend) I went out to the Turkey Run @ Daytona Speedway. Didnt enter the *show*, had a *vendor pass* to drive in. Seen several really cool wagons and even a few B Body wagons. Picked up some parts for my new (to me) '79 GMC 1 Ton crew cab Dually at both shows. Got to visit with my *road family* at both shows too. Tryin now to rest up to *try* and go to the PRI trade show in Orlando this Thurs, Fri & Sat.

I just cant work like I used too since my heart took a big dump. Being 100% disabled sucks big time. Hope everyones doin well. Back to *lurk mode*

Just wondering what/who the *registration fee* goes for? If its anything like the *wagonfest south* the end of march, with no at show activities, etc. what is the draw for anyone to make the haul from 18+ hours away? Just wondering..........

As most of you know, I have a *fleet* (3 actually, Olds, Chevy & Buick) of '92 wagons. I read somewhere (I have forgotten where) that other GM radios will ftt in that giant hole in the dash. The radio head unit out of a Venture I think was one of them. Anyone have any info, ideas or thoughts on this? I really HATE the way the aftermarket units look. I have a Pioneer in the *Yenko Impala SS* and a Kenwood in the Roadmaster *GSX Stage 2* wagon. Thanks!

I know, its been quite a while since I posted. Alot has changed since June of 2010. A change in management meant my position with Daytona Beach Car Shows ended. Still hit a few shows, our last *judged* show was the 1st Annual All Chevy SuperNationals in Pigeon Forge TN. Went back to wrenchin again,,,till July '11. Started feelin like junk, then in Aug of 11, had my first of 2 bad strokes. Had to learn to walk & talk all over. The second happened in Dec of '11 followed by a few surgeries. Now I am deemed totally disabled..........

The first of March this year I was finally able to wander about in public without supervision. The wife decided we should go to a show to *celebrate" so she pick the toughest judged show to go to, Super Chevy. Had just 2 1/2 weeks to get a car ready that had not been "detailed" since June '09, and washed since Nov of '11. Without the help of a few friends, the wife and a few neighbors the wagon would have never been ready.

We wound up getting a *Editors Choice* on Sat, and a *Outstanding, Big Body 1990 & Up" and *Best Modified Wagon* on Sunday. The wife and I were thrilled, and those of you who know me know that I am very rarely speachless, but yep, I was speachless. I didn't think the wagon was ready for any awards, and really didn't expect any, we just went mainly because the wife had never been to a Super Chevy event. That did more for my *recovery* than anything the Dr's did.

The following week was the 1st Annual *Spring Turkey Run* at Daytona Intl Speedway. At first I was only gonna go out on Fri for a bit just to pick up a few things and see my *road family*, since I was still worn out after Super Chevy. Several here prodded me to come out on Sat, which I did. I even had the hood up *gasp* for a little while. I'm usually not a *hood up* guy. I shocked Bob Borchers when he seen I had the hood up. I wasn't feelin good , super tired, but wanted to see everyone. Wish I had felt better to hang out with the guys at the hotels.

On the Tuesday after Daytona I was back in the ER with a very mild stroke. Thats when I finally figured out maybe I cant do the schedule like I did when I was *on the road* doin shows. Were still gonna hit a few shows, when I feel up to it. Since I have been home, I'm still doin more detailin on the Yenko, as long as I can reach it from my lawn chair. I cant stand or walk very long, and since I only have 22% of my heart functioning, my endurance lacks alot too.

The one show were hoping to make this year is the Woodward Dream Cruise. There are a few others, but not many, Beach Blast 17 in Cocoa Beach FL mid May, Memory Lane in Rogersville TN Memorial Day weekend, the fall Grand Run in Pigeon Forge TN in Sept., Bristol Super Chevy @ Bristol TN, and the Emerald Coast Cruzin' show in Panama City Beach in Nov. This is ALOT lighter schedule than when I was workin for the car show, hittin 60 - 70+ events a year. Just gotta wait and see how my health is when these dates come up...........

You need to get with Bob Borchers of GofaSSt after the first of the year, along with the Daytona Beach Street Rods. MAJOR changes (club parking and such) have happened since control of the car show side of this show has happened. GofaSSt has no President at this time, (from what Bob told me a few weeks back) and they usually paid most (if not all in the past) for the tents and such. I hope it can continue, but it may have to be scaled back from previous years........

Thanks for all the well wishes. My recovery isnt nearly as quick as I'd like it, but I'm slowly gettin better every day. I did finally drive the "Yenko Impala SS" wagon out to the Turkey Run on Thursday. I had a golf cart to cruise around in wed & thurs to visit my "road family". I seen Bob Borchers at the show Thursday and visited with him for a while. I took friday off to "rest up" for saturday. It was great to see them again! I didnt realize how much I miss being on the road until then. On Sat at the Turkey Run I seen Rob (rh96ss) and we walked around some. Yes, I was walking around Sat afternoon. My leg held up great, no pain at all! But oh boy was I tried when I got home. But it was a "good" kind of tired.

I hated to miss alot of the "big events" this year, like the Woodward Dream Cruise, the Grand Run and others. Hopefully next season I can get to more shows and finally get to meet some of you.

I'm back after being "away" for a while, ok several months actually. After taking the wifes "GSX" wagon to Pigeon Forge for the GM Supernationals back in June, my health started "acting up" again. Havent been to a show since. The end of August, I had yet another heart attack. Then after that they had to replace the artery in my right upper leg. That happened about 4 weeks ago. Since then been doin alot of just laying around, learning to walk again, along with PT. I'm now "officially" a "cranky old man", as I now have a walker to wander about with. I'm finally able to walk around again fairly easily now Smile

I havent touched or driven either wagon since mid June, either Sad

I havent driven anything since the end of August, either. The Dr is happy with everything so far, and I feel a bunch better than I have in a long time., Still alittle weak, but my strength will come back in time too Smile

Also, I'd like to wish everyone here a very safe & Happy Thanksgiving from Daytona Beach!

The Daytona Beach Spring Car Show & Swap Meet will be held in the infield of the Daytona Intl Speedway March 26th thru the 28th. Show hours are 8 AM to 4 PM Friday & Saturday, 8 AM to 2 PM Sunday. This will be the first year Awards will be given on Sunday to a select few vehicles!!!

Thanks for the kind words about the pics. It was a fun day, and one close to home for me too! The engine bay isnt the only nice part of Terry's car, the entire car is just amazing! A 700+ HP 572 lives in the engine room. Sprocket, like I told Bob B. (jokingly, of course) just think, I left "the best" wagon in my fleet at home, too! Cool

So did "fly boy" (rh96ss), his "Mystery machine" was at our shop gettin its headers & X pipe installed so he can take that to "HossFest" this coming weekend. I'll call about the piece ya PM'd me about tomorrow.
